Benghazi, Is this the truth?

I didn’t know about the missiles, well I knew it was arms dealings but I didn’t know the extent.
I do remember the 13 Hours movie showing the CIA contractors do an arms deal for Stingers but I don't remember if it was treated as anything more than a "These guys have missiles we sold them a while back, we're gonna buy them back so the other guys can't get them" or go into any kind of political detail. 'Course, it was A. a movie and B. based on a book that, as with the movie, did its best not to describe the political controversies and only tell the immediate stories of the contractor team (and was using only the information available at the time, I expect). So it's not exactly gonna give us a portrayal of the events exactly as it happened and should be taken with a grain of salt no matter what.

Edit: No, I was mistaken. In the movie it was SA-7 Grails, the Soviet equivalent of the pre-Stinger Redeyes, and they were supposed to have been part of Gaddafi's arsenal that were being bought up by the CIA to keep them out of terrorist hands.

Makes good reading but its the games they play at that level and the arms of the law don't reach that high. Keeps us intrigued because we get the press release "bullshit" when it happens and then we wait years for the actual facts to come out or the twisted story.Only the players actually know what happened and they take that to the grave.

this is pretty much the story i have heard and believed for a few years. gig was up when the serial number for one of the missiles was found on a weapon used against us. like fast and furious for terrorists.

13 hours tried to avoid the political story- they wanted to sell tickets and not be partisan
i heard something about it being in the story and cut after filming. don't count on that, but it is what i memer.

CIA didn't want to escalate the defense because it would have looked even worse getting their assets in a sling. So they sacrificed security contractors instead.

I thought everyone knew Stevens was running arms.

What is interesting in that was the bergdahl cover for the blackmail of releasing the 5 Taliban generals is tied to Benghazi

Glen Doherty had the more interesting story about what he was doing in Libya. But getting killed in the attack at Benghazi overshadows that and we'll never know all the details about what he did there.

It was similar to the Iran-Contra deal that Oli was working on.

I remember missiles were involved.

The term "MANPAD" was used as "Stinger" might actually mean something to mouth breathers. MANPAD Im guessing is Man Portable Air Defense.

The initial idea was that these were left overs from the Soviet war in Afghanistan - provided to our Mujahadin "Allies".

Doesnt make sense as Im guessing the maintenance/storage conditions to keep those operational for more than twenty years wasnt happening.

Im betting Lindsey Graham knows what happened via his and John McCains pillow talk about what John was doing with his friends Barry and Hill.

Interesting thing was all the Malaysian planes falling out of the sky bout this time........
