I am developing a load for my new rifle, 270/375 Ruger. IMR 7828 was recommended. Is there another powder I should try and if so what grain weight should I start with

I have had great luck with Varget and RL-15 with my 375 Ruger a pretty nice shooting gun, especially when you figure how much energy it delivers and the ability to put two holes in every land mammal in North America from almost all angles with the right bullet. I shoot Hammer bullets a solid copper bullet designed for hunting.

No listing in QL for Either 270/375 or 375/270 ?
Unless I'm just not understanding ??
Can you load some Pics Hollister? I'm kinda curious now....
You can enter custom cartridge data into QL though, thats how we worked up loads for the .458 socom when it was new. i.e. get the saami specs for the .375R, then change the shoulder and neck dimensions for his .277 bore diameter. It will spit out some load numbers that way.

It basically 270 PRS/ruger.
All the standard magnum powders will work.
7828 is one of them.
H1000,7977 and R26 are where I’d be looking possibly even slower like retumbo.
something Like this with the 170EOL certainly would be interesting while it lasted.

So this is a custom or Wildcat ?
Never heard of a 270 /375 ?
Anyone else have info on this
Don't know the difference between custom and wildcat. But after I thought this up I discovered Gunwerks 7LRM was a 375 Ruger necked down to 7MM. I said GREAT! Only needed to neck it down one more size. Hornady made the dies and Pacific Tool made the reamer. Now I want to finalize building the load.

How do I determine grain weight on any of those powders? There is no info on my caliber yet. I named it 277 Wysong Rogue

As in charge he weights?
Well you have a few things going for you.
1-You can get a rough capacity from 300 prc
2-7/300PRC is a thing and it’s a very in close bore and capacity, some quick searching and you can get some load info from that and devise a safe starting charge.

I have done this a few times.
Recommend you find capacity of case. Then start comparing with similar case capacity and same bore. ie, 270 Weatherby, 7/300 Win etc.
If you end up over 75 grains 7828 suggest trying H 1000 and 150/160 grain bullet.
I think you will get 73-75 grains 7828 in that case filled to base of neck.
