Rifle Scopes Optics Planet SUCKS

They ship it relatively quick and then it takes almost two full weeks in transit.

That's because the cheap shipping is "UPS Mail Innovations" - which means UPS gets it close, and hands it off to USPS. Invariably, it seems like one of the two fucks up the handoff, and then they both shrug their shoulders. The package is eventually found and delivered, but the delivery times are super extended. I won't order anything with that shipping method, after a couple bad experiences.

As a retired guy, I love threads like these. I get to compare experiences, and maybe even laugh my ass off at some of the comments. I’ll submit the following:
1. Doug at CameraLandNY has sold me a Kestrel, and, unknown to me, thrown in next day delivery to NC for free. Next, he sold me a Leupold Mark5 TMR and a set of rings. Charged the card. I waited a week and called. An hour or two later, the shipping guy calls and tells me the scope has been on the shelf for a week, still waiting on the rings, should he just send the scope now? I got it the next day Fedex. I bought a set of rings locally, since after looking through the Mark 5, I know that I will be buying another one soon enough. From Doug, who is a great guy with great products, even if he doesn't Email me a tracking number or make up an excuse for his sloppy shipping department.
2. Brownells has done good till it lost my new 224 Valkyrie bolt 15 days ago in their so-called money saving transfer from UPS to USPS. They tell me on chat that I will get an email with a location. Crickets.....Hard to run a new upper without the correct bolt.
3. Midway has one problem. Their shipping monkeys pack heavy loads of 500 SMK’s in with bags of brass, bottles of Hoppes #9 and tubes of grease, without any protection. Then they wonder why I am pissed when I get the soggy box open and find my new brass dented about the neck and shoulder, and end up picking .224 bullets out of the carpet that smells like Hoppes #9. You cannot fix Stupid. Their selection, unless you need SR primers, is usually excellent. They accept returns on armor and carriers when they send you a size small instead of the x-large you ordered, that they didn’t have in stock, but they figured the small would help. They also accept returns and even send you the 224 Valkyrie case gauge you ordered after you send back the unmarked box that holds a .223 Remington case gauge. Surprise, the Valkyrie box is labeled .223 :p
If I was still working my 12 hour rotating shift with abnormal time off, I would need blood pressure meds. Retired, I get used to fuckups, just like ordering no mayo on my Whopper, and getting both sides plastered with the shit. Hell, it looks good on them when I launch it back through the window. Gotta go with the times. Best of luck in getting those primers!
Dang in regards to #3.....that sounds not fun.

Anyone know how to contact this store? My account charged, no comma, no nothing.
Emails get nowhere. Phone prompts end in sorry no one working phones at this time. What is the deal here?

Simply because they SUCK! Otherwise there OK

I haven't purchased from them but a few times ........ always with satisfactory results.

I ordered a set of rings and a baton. Then got a email saying I had to be police for them to ship it to me??? I called in and did stay on hold maybe 15 minutes but got the baton canceled and money returned to my CC. Now gotta wait probably a week for that to show up!!!

Well I'm not having issues with midway other than deals and good service.

Placed order for my scope on July 7, at 3:10 pm.
Arrived minutes ago 4:30 PM July 10.

I used the free shipping not express.

Thats 3 days nearly exactly from Columbia Mo. to Fort Worth Texas.

I would say good customer service.

You guys talking about stuff on back order?

View attachment 7371324

no. I ordered an IN STOCK RCBS decapping assembly and got a “your order has shipped” email on 7/2/20. The tracking number they gave me was garbage. Never worked, not recognized by any carrier. Est delivery was 7/9 (came and went) and no change on tracking. They’ve disabled phones, live chats etc and their emails only give you a generic “we are busy” reply.

I was going to dispute the charge with my CC company yesterday after two weeks of nothing and it was waiting on me when I got home.

A company going dark and not giving their customer any way to contact them for issues is bad business

Well, I just received my OP order 2 days ago with zero issues...
I've ordered several times since this Covid19 thing, and even returned 1 item, and you know what all was handled well by them.
Is this rare, I don't think so at all...

IMHO we are witnessing the collapse of the supply chain. I too am having the same issues as listed by the members above. The big, dependable suppliers are "sweeping the floor" to gather items to ship. Seeing it with auto parts, tires / tubes, prescription drugs, etc. I'm reaching the point of not letting a supplier "hold my money" while they are sweeping up items for my order. Suppliers are going out of business every day while holding a customer's money. America is moving quickly towards a third world economy / supply chain. In our future the phrase "going to the market" will take on a much different meaning than it did 50 years ago. Unfortunately the young people don't have a clue as to how to "barter" or horse trade. We are living in some interesting times.

Going dark. Interesting observation.
I was overcharged 500.00. Money collected. Held. No comms. My issue was no comms. Weeks of stress.
They did fix it. No product, no happy ending. Weeks spent emailing one way.

Any shipment involving USPS is going to have delays. Two transfer it took about two weeks to ship each rifle. The worst part was that there was no tracking updates on one of them. It was stuck in a distribution center for one solid week. I had to submit a claim to see if it was lost or something. USPS says it’s due to the COVID-19 situation.

Going forward I try to use fedex or ups especially during these times.

I decided just this morning that I will avoid USPS shipping at all costs from this day forward.
If a vendor insists on using USPS - I will buy somewhere else.

I've decided it all depends on exactly, down the actual neighborhood, you live. We affectionately refer to our UPS driver as "Drunky the Fuck Clown" When we do actually get a package delivered (the majority seem to just enjoy going for rides in the big brown truck but never like to get off) you will usually see the boot print on the box that smashed whatever was inside. FedEx, no problems. USPS, the best.

I have ordered successfully from them before; however, I ordered a scope several weeks ago and although they sent me an email stating it was shipped, I cannot get a valid tracking number to see where it may be at. I fully realize that most companies that deal with firearms, ammo, and the like are overwhelmed with orders, but...

So I hate buying from Optics Planet, as it financially supports the Peoples Republic of Illinois. But quite often they have the best prices, especially on pricey items. (1) if you didn't make a purchase, your CC has been compromised. Call the CC company and get a new one issued. (2) You need to read all the text on item descriptions. They will tell whether it is in stock or what the expected shipping delay will be. I've found the expected delay to be reasonably accurate. (3) I've had no issue with their customer service number 800-504-5897 . (4) Beware of their affiliate, DVOR. Great prices on "new" merchandise, but it appears to be all products returned to Optics Planet, and DVOR will not provide refunds, only credit toward future purchases if they happen to send you a broken product.

They totally sucks. I ordered a scope almost two weeks ago, which was posted as "in stock". Few hours later I got an email stating that my order is fulfilled, since then is still not shipped. They are not answering phones, it seems like they disabled the online chat option. I feel like they made backorder without supply, but didn't announced it and actually mislead customers like me with "in stock" status. And there is no option to cancel this order. This is total fraud. I would never ever buy things from Optics Planet even for much better price. They are scam!!!

Same here. They mislead customers by selling products which they don't have in stock!!! I'm in the same situation and can't cancel my order. I'm thinking about filing a complaint in BBB

My experience with OpticPlanet has always been great (knock on wood after some of the stories on here), spent a few thousands of dollars, not a single hick up but never again I'll order something backorder with them but that was not my fault verifying if it was in stock.

Midway been good too, few packages were missing items (one of them happened beat to sh!t like somone purposely did it to take a box of ammo) but with a simple phone call they either send the missing item or refund you if they dont have in stock.

I really hate when they use UPS-USPS shipping. USPS are just known to be losing packages and its slower too.

Good to know about Dvor. Haven't used them yet, will stay away.

Thanks very much ! (y)(y)(y)

My problem initiated at Divor. OP is same company. My eventual, 3weeks,
later correspondence came fromOP.
my post here only mentioned OP. My 500.00 overcharge was refunded.
There is a lot of industry here.
sorryfor my tone. Thanks for the correction.

I just had a butt stock kit delivered from Optics planet today. The order was placed on 7/5. No issues. I have had to cancel orders through their website, it was easily done online.

I just had a trigger ordered through Brownells and it took longer to get to me. Primary Arms has been about the same. I had to return a handguard to Primary Arms and it took them 3 days to reply to my request. I’m not complaining, I understand people are busy and dealing with an unprecedented global medical event. They are doing their best trying to adapt.

Gun sales are going through the roof. There is a huge demand for guns, accessories, and ammo right now. It doesn’t look like it’s going to end anytime soon, so I consider this "normal" for now. I’m ok being flexible.

Brownells emailed me regarding my 15-day-late 224 Valkyrie bcg. Gal told me they would send me another Fedex 2nd day, so I would get it Monday. They paid the freight. Would I please return the original bcg if/when it ever showed up? I agreed. Today, I find the missing bolt in the mailbox. The package, a plastic bubble wrap envelope, looked like it got in a knife fight and lost. Luckily, the bcg was protected in its heavy duty plastic box. It was a nice enough bcg, that I emailed her to let her know that I would be keeping both of the bcg’s. She took care of business. Shippers are struggling. We will suck it up. No biggie.

Fed Excrement is just as bad here. Paid for next day service, sat at home all day and got a notice they were unable to deliver because no one was home. I was sitting on the porch when he updated the tracking and there was no delivery truck on my street. They like to do what we used to call " doorknobbing" back in the day with UPS, indicate you attempted to make delivery but drive on by.

Yea, I'm waiting on 556 ammo that I thought was in stock. I've ordered twice since then. I may have not noticed before but they advise when a item is expected to be back in stock. Is this new?

Covd-19 has given all retailers an opportunity to see how little CS they can get away with. I knew this was coming years ago when Live chat started with a computer generated responses that do not answer your questions. Speaking to a human being will soon be eliminated as if speaking to someone in India who barely speaks English is any better. Buy local or get use to it. Any company that does not post their phone number in their add is on my do not buy list.

FedEx seriously dropped the ball on a ammo order a buddy needed for a match, 6 days longer than tracking said. I just ordered some 112's Wednesday and they were in the mailbox today.

Absolutely spot on.

Absolutely correct. If you want customer service, buy directly from the manufacturer. All these big "dealers" are no longer dealers, they are "supermarkets".

i just got a mailer from "Sportsman's Guide" military surplus. anyone ever buy anything from them?
they do have lots of different size ammo cans...
I have ordered from them twice. Both times I had fraudulent charges on my credit card that I used within 48 hours. Maybe a coincidence but I won’t order from them again, seemed too weird.

Every company has it's good/bad stories. Never ordered from Optics Planet but heard a lot of bad ones about them. I've ordered quite a bit from Midway over the years and no problems. Last time was about 3 weeks ago, ordered 3 items Sunday nite and had them Tuesday. Not bad. USPS sucks in my opinion. Just bought a scope off the PX. Seller sent it USPS Priority, cost him $40. Sent on Monday, supposed to be here on Friday. Didn't get it till the following Wednesday! Greeeaaat service! LOL

I don't think it's just industry. OP has fraudulent processes and intentions. I have no other explanations. They have absolute no respect to customers whether is coming with overcharges, misleading availability or not delivering purchased products.

I bought from Midway few times. No problems. I also got things from Grabagun and Brownells without any issues.

Only problem I had with anyone was when I was building a top of the line AR and got a carbon forearm by Precision Reflex. Or so I thought. I called PRI and asked how in the heck my buis would possibly stay aligned, as the thing was flimsy and almost squishy. They said, no way, you can pretty much run over it with a car! So I sent it to them and it turned out to be an Airsoft copy that someone had sent back as a legit PRI product. It all got fixed, but Brownell's lost a couple hundred bucks on that deal. I bet they checked returns better in the future for a while!

My experience with them has been great. Also has with Brownells, Midway and Eurooptic. I've had good luck in general with everyone I've done business with.

If you ask enough people you'll find someone who has had a bad experience with practically any retailer.

I've bought from Optics Planet, Brownells, Midway, Sportsmans Guide, Amazon, Ammoland, E Arthur Brown, Midsouth Shooter Supply, Wideners, off the top of my head. Many many others. Good enough experiences with all of them that I'd consider buying again, nothing stands out as a future deal breaker.

Optics Planet has a button to check availability and the results do not always jibe with what I would call "in stock" but it's enough to make an informed decision.

I can't recall any issues with SH vendors like MHSS, CS Tactical, Liberty Optics, and Cameraland NY (to name a few).

YMMV

Midway has been hosing up my orders lately, so I am done with them.

Fuck midway. I bought some 115gr defensive 9mm (not cheap), on their site. I'm certain it was 9 para. They sent me some gucci ass expensive 9mm mak. Claimed that's what I ordered becuase it's on their invoice and told me to go fuck myself.

Never buying from them again.

Time to buy a cz82 though.

agree. they totaly suck. ordered some shown "in stock" AR parts-NOT! e-mails and phone calls got the usual currently popular excuse- "we're busy because of the virus". finally got everything with only 1 "error" after 2 weeks. quit using midway, besides their hideous pricing and shipping, was told i had to wait 45 in to talk to a human about a potential order. my go tos have been sg ammo, outdoor limited, camera land, euro optic, larue, primary and here,of course. there are some other good ones out there. optics planet and midway are not on that list.
