Why would you choose a 4-20 when the 5-27 is only 2” and 3 oz more?

The 4-20 is supposed to be even better than the 5-27 (if that's even possible.....). I have the 5-27 and absolutely love it. I tend to think that the guys purchasing the 4-20 tend to be more of the multi use types, where they also use it for hunting. Or, maybe that's the primary use for a lot of them.

That extra 7' of fov on the low end is huge for a crossover scope. 21' is pretty narrow and is my biggest gripe with my AMG.

I tend to look at it in the opposite direction - what would the 527 do that the 420 would not. Why would I want less available FoV, pay more (barely), have a heavier optic (barely), have a longer optic with a larger objective? Not to mention, it is pretty rare for me to take a shot over 20x. None of this is to say that I think the 420 is better in the absolute sense, I just think it is better for what I would want out of it.

I recently picked up a Kahles K525i, and I'm debating with myself whether my next scope will be the ZCO420, TT315M.......or something cool I don't even know about :ROFLMAO:

They are both very good, 4-20x50 is facing less competition and is probably the best in its class for now.

I like the 5-27x a lot, but if I am looking for a high end 56mm scope in the 5-25x range, there is a lot of very strong competition to consider and while the 5-27x is really excellent, it is not necessarily a clear cut choice.

With 50mm scopes that top out around 18x to 20x, the ZCO 4-20x50 is the best I have seen to date and being 2" shorts than the 5-27x can make a significant difference for some applications to boot.

My 5-27 is amazing on my long range rig, I have no complaints!

What I would love to see is a ZCO 1-8 with the 36 mm main tube. I think that would be the perfect precision, multipurpose and hunting scope with excellent light gathering for its size. It would be perfect atop a large frame AR, scout rifle, dangerous game rig, or shorty bolt gun. A man can dream. In the meantime I still need to pick up a 4-20 for my .308.

20x on the top end for precision shooting while prone is not ideal. On the flip side, a 21' FOV isn't ideal either. Smart to make 2 scopes since they can't legitimately fit it all inside one.

The upcoming March 4.5-28x52 is supposed to blend the two mag ranges and do so with wide FOV. It will be interesting to see if they can pull it off (I should have an improved prototype to look at soon). In the meantime, if i were in the market, ZCO's 20x would be sufficient for me.
