Too long as in there is too much threading? Redneck solution is start stacking washers.
Proper solution would be a threaded spacer milled to match the barrel's diameter. Would even be seamless if done right.

Correct, I wasn't sure how'd that look. But I also dont want to start slicing into a Proof
How long is it? Got a caliper? Was the mount used on another barrel with shorter threads? If it was, it could just be carboned up inside and needs a cleaning. Many muzzle devices are threaded super long to give ample wiggle room. But the unused threads will fill with carbon after not much use.
Are you using the thick chamfered washer that comes w/ the Warcomp? It takes up ~ 1/8" of threads. Silencerco has a 1/2x28 thread spacer but assume you're probably talking 5/8x24. Not sure why they don't do one in 5/8x24.
Correct, I'm using the 5/8. I would need multiple spacers but I think it'll look dumb since the proof had the near seamless thread protector.
Has the warcomp been used on another rifle previously? I have no experience with the warcomp but I ran into this same issue when mounting a used SF brake. I discovered that the muzzle was stopping against carbon buildup that had formed at the muzzle end of the previous barrel. Cleaned up the threads really well and worked with minimal shims.
The above is what I’ve found. SF bmuzzle devices have long threads. I’d almost bet it’s a carbon ring that’s stopping it.
