So I just mounted my scope on my rifle and I was wondering if my scope was too high, it feels right and everything lines up correctly when shouldered but there’s definitely some space between the bell and barrel, here’s a pic..

If it fits your neck/body style then there is nothing to worry about.
If you have an adjustable cheek riser then you're good to go with just about any height.
Just as ROB01 said, this can easily be accounted for in your ballistic app/device.

Lol. I mean is it preferred to run it closer to the barrel, any real world benefits ? I still haven’t shot it yet...
Ok, real talk. If you’re running a traditional stock with a fairly severe drop at heel- set up for iron sights- with no adjustable cheek piece, then mounting the scope low over the barrel can improve the cheek weld. However, stocks set up for modern precision shooting are set up for more in-line recoil, are designed for optics, put the cheek rest higher, and often have adjustable combs. There is no real advantage to stressing over sight height over bore with modern precision rifles. Mount it where it is comfortable. You’ll shoot better comfortable, opposed to adhering to ancient dogma.
