Maggie’s What's Your View II

We traded my truck in on the wife 4Runner. So we decided to trade her car in on a truck for me.
I’m glad we got damn good trade in on both vehicles.
I ended up with a new tundra yesterday.

The wife plus seven other good friends climbed Glacier Peak on Friday morning. Three day adventure starting with a 12.5 mile, 4,700’ hike up to our camp site where the photo was taken from then a 4 am wake up inside the cloud layer to complete the 4.5 mile, 4000’ climb to the top above the clouds.

This was our third attempt. First time weathered out and the second time my wife developed some nasty heat blisters on the way up to the camp area, her socks were all bloody by the time we got back to the car.

Glacier Peak marks the last of the five Washington volcanic peak summits for the wife and I. 😁

Crazy thing was that there was a deer on one of the glaciers at about 9200’, at least a couple of miles from any food source in any direction. Bizarre to say the least. I don’t plan on looking that far up during high buck, way to far to pack one out!

thanks!

In 2002 when I got my first new truck with in the first 30 days I had a quarter sized hole in the bed from and engine block. And within 100 days after that I took it down a very very over grown ATV trail. Big crew cab F350. In my defense the ATV trail used to be a forest service road to some great camping when I was a kid. I wanted to take my wife and child to my old camping grounds. Unbeknownst to me a rock slide happened in the mid 1990's and the forest service never cleared it.

The only part that pissed me off is about a 100 yards in i came across some ATVer's who about shit and had to drive into the willow bushes to avoid me. They all had the WTF look. Someone could have said "hey dumbfuck this isn't what you think it is "

Anyway still have the truck and fucking love it, clear coat still has the scars from that little adventure. 7 miles at about 2mph. What a shit show, but I made it .

Enjoy your new purchase.

PS. to this day maps still show it as a road, and I guess technically it still is. It ain't for the weary, width wise even a jeep should not go down it.

Open avocado 🥑 style. I sometimes wonder what the mail people think when they see the boxes like that 😂
I did that, but they came from a tree that had apparently been struck by lightning, sprayed with Roundup, hit by a semi, and was full of rabid squirrels, so the "pit" wasn't quite well centered.
And the fucking avocado had a Federal ammo thingy in it from a box of 7mm Retard.

Who the hell shoots anything 7mm? Everyone knows 6.5 is God's caliber.
No, wait!! It's 6mm this year isn't it?
I'm confused again.

You'd probably appreciate my high school buddy Brian Hyerstay. We were in high school in '74-'76 and had automotive shop together, Brian was the quiet focused kid in class and somewhat the teacher's pet (Jim Arch RIP). When the class was in session Brian would be doing his thing somewhere in the shop. One day I was watching what he was doing as it was more interesting than the days lesson.... he had a VW head on the bandsaw and was sectioning it. His goal was to install GM 2.02" intake and 1.60" exhaust valves in a VW head because the GM 2.02 Fuelie heads were the cats ass back then thanks to the '69 DZ1 302 Z/28 motor.

Brian now has a respectable home shop with engine room and dyno room at his house and has made some impressive VW horsepower.

Here's one of many articles highlighting his accomplishments.

He's one of a kind genius type and get a couple Coors Lights in him at the local machine shop and he turns into an absolute comic. Great guy!

I have seen videos of that dragster running before. It is impressive he can pull that kind of power from a two piece block for sure. I can’t imagine how he has it fastened together.
This motor is no haus as it is just a simple 1641cc with standard 042 heads, 87.5 pistons and a super mild almost stock cam. My goal is to build another motor on the side that is far more aggressive, more than likely in the 2300cc range unless something changes my mind and I do a Subaru swap.

The surplus powders never end up at a match for a reason though. At least none that I’ve seen. It would be nice for this fire forming though

I really enjoy the power delivery of my built EJ-25 but of all the cars I've had and worked on over the years those motors are a true PITA to work on. I'm running the OEM exhaust from a Cobb downpipe back so it's quiet but still manages 292hp@5900/362tq@3400 to the wheels.

I enjoy working on my '69 Camaro SBC, this thing not at all. It's all contortionist work.

Sea fog rolled in early this morning. Actually had to use my wipers on the way to work at 4:45.
Starting to clear off now.
We cooled off yesterday and today's supposed to be about the same. Monday was 98 in Kirkland/Totem Lake. I like morning fog, particularly in the summer when it burns off mid morning/mid day. Actually, love in the fall when it does that. Riverfishing :D

We had a big cool off yesterday. Think it hit 73. Supposed to hit low 80s today. Monday here we hit 90. Too damn hot for me.
Those foggy fall mornings get me going. Love that time of year. Especially when you have a bugling bull down in the timber.

At least I can take my bug motor out by myself in under an hour or two depending on how motivated I am. Nothing like a small block cheby though. Grew up on home built monster cars and never truly lost the passion. Have had many cars in the past but taking it slow getting into cars again with this bug. My brother built custom hotrods for over 20 years.
