Yep.maybe if they didn't all have both hands on their guns, one of them might have tackled him. or billy clubbed him. They stayed at standoff range and shouted orders. Needed to get his attention, preferably with something less than 7x 9mm
100%.Yep.
In my years in LE, I never missed an opportunity to go hands-on early. When you intervene early, you can get that train off the tracks before it gains speed and you really get fucked (like the above video).

True. Additionally, without knowing the reason for the contact/detention, statements made, did they have probablecause to arrest and were in the process of arrest when this went sideways..... overall details which make up the totality..... there's no way to logically conclude cops were right or wrong.Looks like he’s got something in his handView attachment 7407033
No matter what there is no where near enough info for anyone to possibly form an opinion on this. I agree with you.True. As LE, I support this. Most of us do, I believe. A recent study showed that complete incident timeline bodycam video evidence overwhelmingly leads to Federal 1983 lawsuits being dropped/dismissed by summary judgement or being decided in the LE/defendant’s favor at trial. All cops need to be outfitted with bodycams. PERIOD!
I heard be had a knife in his hand.... He was either in a domestic disturbance situation or attempting to break one up...not sure. If had a knife taze him or use a baton.... Something before shooting him... You know someone has a video cam going recording the situation......
looks like a Karambit knife to me. Lucky to have made it that far.
Your sarcastic lack of empathy is part of whats wrong today...Why go to a domestic call in the hood? Really?
It looked to me like he was over-reaching and was off balance. Not necessarily F'd up.Did anyone notice how the cop that was closest to him moved like he was drunk, fucked up, or had possibly been struck in the head?
So many years ago, in the dim past, I was training as a Paramedic with LA City Fire Dept, in East LA. Whoa, what an MF of a place to train. When we were called to a "domestic", usually, we stopped at a spot a block or two away, to meet the cops who also waited a few minutes, for the combatants to settle the score before we rolled in. Chief Parker Days... Certain areas were a definite no-go until several LAPD were on scene. Same neighborhood (Frogtown) two motorcycle cops got thrashed, their pistols and short sotguns stolen, and one bke stolen the other trashed. Broken arm, kicked in face, ruptured kidney, concussion, and a few other greater than minor injuries. They had gone in under the bridge there, and got ambushed, in response to a call, not waiting. The call was "domestic". Nobody waited after the call went out, so we arrived at the same time as the PD, LAPD, and Glendale PD. The call was made on one of the MC cop's handheld radios, by a gang member. This was supposed to be some kind of warning. We transported to Glendale Adventist, and Chief Gates showed up, with half the command structure, and the Mayor (I forget who that was at the time, I wasn't from down there).Your sarcastic lack of empathy is part of whats wrong today...
LE goes to "domestic" calls in the hood because when someone calls, you gotta go and investigate to see if a crime has occurred or people need medical. Its how the cookie crumbles. There are 99%+ good people in the "hood" that need LE help just like anyone else.
Cool stories. I was a cop in LA county from 2009-2019 (San Gabriel Valley area). I made it safe for the real heroes like you to come in and be heroes. I was also a paramedic (and still am).So many years ago, in the dim past, I was training as a Paramedic with LA City Fire Dept, in East LA. Whoa, what an MF of a place to train. Spoken like a true California Democrat. God bless you and thanks for making it safe for heroes to do their job. I'm sure you are proud.Your sarcastic lack of empathy is part of whats wrong today...

The knife in the hand changes things. That explains why they immediately broke contact, but not why he wasn't tased. Maybe none of them had tasers?
I found that out yesterday. I also noticed that the video that was posted has been heavily edited. They tried to tase him, unsuccessful deployment, not exactly unheard of.
