First off, it's the Marine
CORPS (a military unit), not Corp (abbreviation for corporation). Holy shit, how in the living fuck am I the first to mention that? Are we really that kinder and gentler? The veins in my Gunnery Sergeant forehead start showing just on the sight of Corp being used in conjunction with our branch. This isn't even grammar nazi, this is the title of our fucking service. GTFO with that bullshit.
Second, it's long past due to consolidate all recruit training onto one location. Cost of MCRD San Diego alone has to be insane. Have you seen the cost of BAH for San Diego?

It's over a full grand above MCRD PISC rates, and when you assume a basic 2000 manpower of the base, well that's two million a month more expensive to operate in CA versus SC. Actual manpower there is likely much higher, I picked 2k out of thin air as a guess as to when I was based at PI in the 90s.
For those who have been to MCRD San Diego, you know there is absolutely no room for expansion. Not that Parris Island has any more room, but SD is already nut to butt. They have to travel to Pendleton for half their training, taking away training time for travel and again, additional cost as well as strain on the Drill Instructors having to be away from their own home.
For Parris Island, they have a fair bit of training capabilities and some room for expansion, but I can only imagine the increased housing footprint necessary to combine the training while not having everyone sleeping under one roof in one room. It's a multi billion dollar fuckery that is coming.
Leave SOCAL. Leave PI. Put all of it in NC at Lejeune, Sandy Run is a hell hole and absolutely would make for a sequestered training area. Even better, put that shit in Texas. As for the tradition of training at Parris Island? Marines haven't even been training there for half of their existence, it's just another piece of ground. Why does the Corps have "Camps" and the army has "Forts"? Because of our expeditionary mindset, and we're ready to close one and open another at any given moment. It's just dirt, we'll take more elsewhere...
Now to combining the training. Congress, as usual, stuck their noses where it didn't belong for the sake of feel good bullshit while dabbling with national security. Maybe I'm just old and stuck in my ways, but I and the rest of the Corps, male and female alike, have long believed boot camp isn't the time for cohesion of the sexes, it's the time to turn boys and girls into men and women. You can't do that nearly as effectively while training them together as you can while separating them into their own gender groups.
But for the love of fuck, correct the fucking title of this thread...
