300 BLK OCW workup

Doing an OCW workup for 300 BLK supers with a 8.5” pistol. Usually shoot OCW at 100 yards but thinking 50 for this. Any reason not to?

Sure there is. The further out you go the larger the delta is in your discrepancies, that just comes at the cost of extended flight time exposed to the elements to push it off path.

I expect that at 50 yards you’ll have most everything shoot pretty good and make it hard to tell.

Agreed for sub MOA bolt guns but this is a multi MOA 8.5” pistol.

Just cause its short doesnt mean Id be fine with it shooting like crap. If you dont want to make it accurate why work up a load?

Second this... If it s multi MOA, then why bother working up a load all, just make it cycle and you are good to go. Save time and components.

I find .300 can be pretty accurate out of my 10" and 16" tubes. Its worth it to me to work up a load when I want push to or past 100 yards.

Multi MOA is shooting suppressed off hand with an Aimpoint PRO and rubber crutch tip on end of buffer tube (Yes you can get a good cheek weld). Main use is for a truck/tractor gun.

Could put the upper on a SBR lower for the stock and mount a 1-4 optic in place of the red dot and use a JoyPod and heavy rear bag. Maybe that would work at 100 yards with very old eyes. Just have to go to the range and see.

It is a Minute-of-man cartridge to 200-300 yards. It is basically a magnum pistol cartridge.
It is a 30 carbine with a step up in bullet weight...it is a 357 magnum with a better BC.
It is not a 500 yard precision cartridge.

Pick a bullet... pick an appropriate powder... load it till it is 100% reliable...and rock on with it.
