Now to see my Grandmother, in hospice at the nursing home. The mask no longer cuts it. We must now wear, a mask, a full gown, and goggles. We have been pissing off the county health what ever the fuck bureaucrat with too much power in our area. I think she is really sticking it to everyone she can because of this. In the other county she is "in charge of," to visit with people through the glass doors at the assisted living facility, you must both wear a mask, and have a negative COVID test. The county probably doesn't have 5000 people and still has not had a positive case.

Did I miss something and Kung Pao Sicken is being projected from our eyes now? Yeah "mine protects you, yours protects me." Sure I am buying it..... :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Googles as the eyes are an ingress point. I think Fauci was touting face shields or goggles a couple of months ago, but fuck that. You'd think a neg Covid would be enough. Perhaps she just doesn't want to be the next Cuomo...

It does sound shitty but on the other hand she is protecting the weak and fragile.

As to the Covid test, I had that before my hip surgery. GODDAMN its painful. Feels like their squirting hot acid up your nostrils.

I do hospice visitation and my very long time patient and friend died recently and due to restrictions at the facility I couldn’t visit w him under any circumstances.

I feel that both Arthur and I were cheated. I was very committed to going thru this last stage of life w him and the virus, and the reaction to it, stole that from us.

Having recently lost my mother (3 years ago) who died in hospice care (and for those of you wondering--it basically make them comfortable--she got to die at home watching the lake, rather than at a hospital) and having a brother as a chaplin in a nursing home, the WORST effects of COVID are on the very people we are trying to "protect".

My brother reported that he lost numerous patients not to the virus, but basically loneliness. No visitors, basically cost them the will to live. Frankly those kind of restrictions are the ones we should be shouting to the streets about. Yeah we argue about masks/no masks--but our elderly are basically cordoned off and left to die and we don't do squat about it.

Not only is it morally reprehensible, its a violation of freedom of assembly. We let the ****** riot in the street, but can't care for o ur loved ones? Yeah I'm pretty hot about the subject, but we left our vulnerable to die alone. What kind of people are we?

Ask them! Almost to a person, they'd rather have visitors and risk infection. In stead we blanket made the decision for them.

I need my meds.
RIGHT.
NOW.

WE are all going to have to get some form of this shit and I think in the end, it's going to turn out to be just like any other F'n virial infection. Granted, will it effect some more than others, yes (I'm in the "risky" category), but, doesn't the common cold/flu do the same thing?? This shit is getting to be very taxing.

I remember reading a book a long time ago in “public” school we’re all elders were to be killed by emperor mandate.
then they were under threat of attack unless they could solve certain problems.
wouldent you know it, the guy that hid his elders kept getting advise from his elders and saved his town.
this was a little kids book but it appears relavent now. Am I the only one noticing the groups being separated are the ones old enough to have seen communists the first few wars?
It is blatantly obvious at this time our rights will require blood to be restored.

Explain to me how wearing goggles is protecting the nursing home, from getting COVID inside? The staff do not wear goggles. The staff do not wear gowns.

Not my choice, and not really an option. With advanced dementia she already needed full time care. She went from assisted living to the nursing home several years ago. For less than what they paid either I would have happily quit working to care for her. But my parent isnt her only child and they all share in the decision making.

Your eyes are constantly emitting virus particles. That's how it's possible to make someone ill by just looking at them. This is fairly basic science.

Put this one in the same general category as why I can't take a fruit-and-grain bar through airport security.

Then by that logic everyone in the nursing home should be wearing goggles. Not people entering the nursing home. As we are trying to keep it out, not prevent people with COVID in the nursing home from infecting us.

I completely agree. My hospice patient turned 94 in Jan and I took a cake and card to him and we sat and talked a good bit. Now at 94, most are def skating On thin ice, if alive at all.
But Arthur was mentally sharp, in no pain, and completely stabile. I am convinced the social isolation kicked him over the edge and int a rapid decline.
I would also visit his “girlfriend” when there. Sue was in the room next to Arthur’s, is 78, and her Alzheimer’s was mild when I saw her last in Jan. I have received reports that she too has gone belly up and pulled for the ground. That is, her Alzheimer’s has suddenly accelerated and her condition significantly worsened.
All due to social isolation, IMO.

This thread brought a tear to my eye.

I was blessed to take care of many hospice patients over my time as neurology specialty nurse.
Folks should pass in comfort, Surrounded by People who love and care about them if possible. And it is possible.

Little people dont allow it so they can feel special.

Prayers for all those who have been locked in their “cage” of a room in a NH and all their family/friends who suffer too.
This is utter madness.

One of my best friends works as a director of an old folks home. He is livid daily with stories of how the govt has him hogtied.
Do what he knows is right, lose his job in short order, and maybe get scewed for future employment.
Go along and be angry daily and apologize to residents and families.
He does spend a lot of time with the residents though. Just hanging out and shooting the breeze with them.
Says it brings him joy.

I remover being 10 when my grandma died. I cried. A lot. Grandpa didn’t. When I asked him why he wasn’t crying and didn’t think he even loved her he gently reminded me.

We all die, it’s a part of life. Grandma is no longer hurting. We should celebrate her life. We had pizza that night. I still miss her.

For all the grandkids, children, spouses all the loved ones out there.....I hope you get to give them a hug goodbye.

Fuck em, break in, hug them.

Suffer the consequences so your loved ones don’t die alone, scared and worst of all....thinking you don’t love them anymore.

FIGHT BACK OR DIE QUIETLY

My Granny on other side was living with my dad and his sister. She asked them to be moved back to the nursing home in her home town. They resisted. I told them they needed to honor her wishes. My grandma and her kitchen band used to sing at the nursing home there all the time. My parents took us kids there to sing for them about 4 times a year. Its a place she has a lot of good memories. I guess the nursing home is what the community makes it. Maybe if yours is a dank hell hole, you should do something about it.

I remember when I was put into the geriatric ward at the hospital. (along with a lot of other things, my pelvis go broked in 4 place in the accident) and those wards are where everyone is in for Hip replacements.

I was in there for "some months" and at two different facilities. I can ACTUALLY and HONESTLY tell you what it is like to live there. I was one of the very few to actually leave because I 'got better'.

When they transferred me to the second facility, it happened to be on Labour Day weekend. It was a SHIT SHOW and come the following Tuesday I demanded to have the Hospital Administrator right there at the foot of my bed.

I told her to her face what I'd witnessed the previous weekend. She wouldn't/couldn't believe me, so some of the nursing staff that were there during the weekend were brought in. I put them on the spot, I pointed fingers at them, and I told the Administrator exactly what happened/what was done whilst they were standing there. I dared them to deny it.

One was fired that day, one 'retired' at the end of the week, and the whole complete staffing was shifted around and "reset".

I came unglued on those bitches.

For weeks afterwards, I had other "fellow inmates" come to my bed and THANK me for what I'd done. Seems previous to that, nobody would listen AND nobody would believe them. I guess, when I'm sorta excited and really trying to ensure my point is coming across, that my voice MIGHT raise an octave or two.

It was a night-and-day difference from then on,,,,, and I got outta there in November.

Damn, but some of this crap I wish I could forget....

You asking about the accident (18 y/o girl in oncoming traffic that turned left directly into me) or are you asking about the Labour Day weekend (and the continuous shit-show from hell, where patients we pushing their call-buttons either for themselves or for others, and hollering down the hallways (one woman had a "cardiac event") (another woman was left in the bathroom), a man in the next room needed assistance and many other things.

Thing is, the 'nursing staff' were in the "nurses lunchroom" eating popcorn and watching VHS movies.

Myself, I was confined to my bed and able to get around 'a bit' in my wheelchair... which is why I went down the hallway and banged on the lunch-room door.

Everyone could smell the microwave popcorn.

And yes, this was a "Federal Government" facility that specialized in Veterans. I raised Holy Hell....

nothing says you care for your loved ones like a full ppe suit . that or granny you stink like a full face mask with oxygen tank and filter . Id be looking for another home for her one you can see her with out all the extra junk needed . best of luck to you and I hope things work out for you and your loved ones .

I understand that you would like to be closer to relatives that you may soon lose. I also wanted to see my grandpa more often when he was closer to 69. However, you cannot scold the new rules related to Covid-19. Can you expose your older relatives and other older adults in this nursing home to such danger? Kids, pregnant women, and the elderly are at risk of severe Coronavirus. Please, be patient. We sent my grandpa to a cozy and elite nursing home that we found on seniorsite.org. He really likes it there. When it was quarantined in 2021, even the staff of this place did Covid-19 tests every day.

The ones that intentionally killed patients by denying them recently proven lifesaving treatments like ivermectin, putting them on ventilators, destroying their kidneys with Remdesivir? The rules which denied heart transplants to critically ill babies and let them die without treatment in the name of political health theater? Or the short-bus special ed edition Chinese rules that involve welding entire apartment buildings shut and letting residents starve to death?
