I don't disagree with anything you said. I'm just curious how any of these (very legitimate) concerns would justify being an asshole to someone working near the entrance of the local supermarket because of my inability to properly escalate a problem up the chain of command.

Well you see in this country we are not subject to laws made by executive agencies. In fact it is strictly forbidden by our constitution. Laws must be passed through the legislative branch of government.
