Ok, I just pulled the trigger on the big Gen2 Razor, and so now I also need a set of rings / a scope mount...

If at all possible I'd like a decent quality mounts / set of rings, but I'd like to avoid having to sell off a kidney just to get that scope mounted.

Any decent options under $100? Will be mounted on a Savage 10 action with Shilen varmint countour barrel.

You just bought a great scope and now you want a Cracker Jack mount/rings?

Get some seekins/premium vortex rings at the least.
ARC M-10’s a awesome rings and a worthy option.

The Hellcat-on-85-octane analogy is appropriate. Or buying a Vudoo .22 and shooting bulk ammo out of it.

The easy button is Vortex PMR rings. If you got the scope from Liberty, just get the rings there too. Don't make this harder than it needs to be - and for pete's sake don't buy a great scope and hamstring it with cheap mounts. The PMR rings are solid and reasonably priced.

I hear you guys; not wanting to put Mickey Mouse rings on it, but if there's a good option without spending hundreds of dollars then 'why not'...

Most of you guys have been around precision shooting a lot longer then I've been, so I'm all ears. Below $100 equals garbage / trouble?

Look. If you go back through my posts, you'll see I am not an in-your-face guy. I try to help. But what part of multiple people in this thread saying "Get the Vortex PMR rings" for $150 plus or minus is so hard to understand? Jeez, would you go buy a Corvette and go asking a thousand questions about how to put the cheapest tires possible on it?

If you're that hard up over $50, you probably overspent on the scope. Better to buy a Viper PST for a few hundred dollars less so you'll have money for decent rings to mount it.

I like Badger Rings. They aren’t cheap. To put it another way, having low end rings will cause you no end of trouble...unreliable zero/dope, inexplicable fliers, damage to your scope, rings, etc...for the scope you now own, you owe it to yourself to mount it in a way that will inspire confidence. Everyone is going to have an opinion on what rings to use. I’ve used many pair of Badger rings with zero trouble, ever. If guys are pointing to the Vortex option, I would assume it’s a reasonable choice unless YOUR experience or someone YOU trust more says otherwise.

"is so hard to understand" & "asking a thousand questions" & "If you're that hard up over $50"

OK....

Why spend more if 'good is good'? I'm not strapped for cash, but I'm not going to spend more then I have to either. This is why i bought the Razor at Liberty Optics, and this is why after input from hide members I'm looking at AA optics for a set of refurb PMR rings. (they're out of 34mm, but I've got plenty of time before that Razor arrives anyway)

For me it's a hobby, not a pissing or bragging contest :)

Don’t listen to them high faluting rich label sellers.. use 550 cord. If you can’t find true 550 cord then there’s always duck tape and bailing wire. If your fix can’t fix the next thing that breaks down then your not doing it right. #poorsdoittoobutgovpaysforchildrens

I just looked up the XLR rings (recommended above by Bigskyguy) -- Did not know XLR makes rings.

I'll bet those are good quality rings -- will consider trying them in the future.

Yep, checked those out as well, they seem to be rebranded UTG pro rings (USA made). From what I've read so far on this forum they're actually pretty decent. Might try those on an Arken scope I have on order.

Badger Ordnance, Seekins or Nightforce. Done.

Check the PX as you can sometimes find good deals on these and similar caliber rings. As others have stated, don’t cheap out on the rings or settle for “good enough” as your system is only as strong as its weakest link. Like you said, you’re relatively new at this. Take our advice. You will thank us later...

Well you have about 6 weeks to wait for scope, so buy rings during Black Friday sales.
I use SPUHR & ARC. That scope is a tank, you need to up your ring budget.
Make sure your pic rail is torqued/locktited down to the action before mounting.

Since your not worried about bragging you could use one of these.
About $150 on BF sale

Refurbished rings ?

Something tells me you’re in the wrong sport.

You bought a 34mm tube...welcome to 34mm tube accessory pricing. But if you have to save a few bucks then get the UTG Pro rings, as long as they fit. I think they save a few bucks by making them out of 6061 instead of 7075 and they are not quite as thick as the Vortex/Seekins rings. But they are made in the USA and punch way above their pricing. My only real complaint is the sizing. Their lowest set is a medium and its ~1.26", which is just too tall for me. A set of Vortex 34mm lows sold in the PX yesterday for $108....so keep looking.

I have vortex PMR rings on my razor I got them last year on a Black Friday sale .by the time the smoke cleared to my door they were 115.00 . if you are in no Ruch I would wait for a Black Friday sale or get some rings from where you got the optic .

If paying more at shop A than shop B for the exact same product then yes, I'm in the wrong 'sport' I guess :)

It seems most recommend the Seekins / Vortex PMR rings.

I'll wait till black Friday and see what's offered, or perhaps some show up in the PX, or AA optics will stock more refurbished rings before that.

Wouldn't mind buying refurbished / used either.

It's important to keep perspective. You are also going to need other stuff to mount+zero the scope that cost money (eg, torque tools, levels, ammo...to name a few). Try to save the $50 elsewhere like saving 2.5% credit card fees x $2,000 optic by paying cash (or whatever)...or something like this (ie, that's doesn't impact peformance/investment but is arguably less convenient).

No worries, have the right tools to mount the scope :) Now just need to find out the right ring height to order once i order...

Just ordered the scope, from what I understand it takes 4-5 weeks before I receive it, so there's time. :)

Hey OP...

Boom. $105 shipped. 34mm rings, 1.375” height.
(Not affiliated with the seller, I just happen to be browsing and it popped up)

I understand where you're at but if you go too cheap in the end you'll pay more after buying the cheap then good ones. Nightforce ultralites will help offset the fact that the gen 2 is a brick.

Call Vortex and they will help you determine the correct ring height. Takes 5 minutes and we’ll worth your time. They’ve done this a few times.

The pic rail on my ARC M7 action is .100 higher then the Nucleus. So I'll probably be mounting my G2 in this Cadex 1.250".
They aren't cheap though........$275ish.
Don't here much about them, but appears to be a well built mount.
