as it stands I have a new ish b14 300wm bergara. I bought it be a good general rifle as one would call it. I have plans to run a supressor but not at the moment.

the build would look like 20-22" .810 taperless blank from pbb. I have not decided the stock options but leaning towards an xlr element.

I wanted something that was different yet common >300wm handy and not overly heavy are the goals and something that can still have energy at 800 yards.

the decision:

I have never modified a bolt rifle like this but decided 2021 would be the year I spend more time working on precision rifle skills

given 300wm and the cost of ammo (which actually during normal times is not bad) should I go ahead with my plan or trade the rifle for a 6.5cm b14 hmr/b14 ridge sp?

I already have some 6.5cm ammo. would probably still go for the xlr chassis.

I think I am pretty much doing a mind dump so sorry if it seems scattered just trying to get opinions on what I should do. I have an older t3x lite in 6.5 as well I could just rebarrel and put in a chassis.

also does anyone use preferred barrel blanks and run their taperless contours?

Not quite so easy to just take a barrel blank and put it on a bergera like you can a TL3 or Impact

Id order a shouldered prefit from PVA for the tikka and throw it in a chassis for 95% of the shooting you're gonna do

is it any harder for the smith than a 700?

I too would leave the bergara alone and rebarrel the tikka to be the frequent shooter.
(actually I would sell the bergara altogether and rebarrel the tikka but thats just me being a hater)

thats where I am at. looking at different pre-fits and also barreled pre-fits currently.

how about between these 2 barrels for the bergara. smith says b14 is not an issue to cut the barrel for.

i'd want something faster than a 10, 10.5, or 11.25

i'd take either of these first
