I was curious if anyone has had a chance to run the new dasher brass from Peterson and give some feedback. Also let’s hear some of everyone’s favorite dasher loads!
Here is my current dasher load from a 26” proof prefit for a TL3 (origin with a machined lug)
    Alpha brass
    Fed 205m
    Shooters world precision 31.5gr
    115dtac jump .020”
    2775fps SD of 4

I did get 2 stuck cases and steering away from the dtac. 105berg/109berg or 108 ELDs, maybe 110SMKs I cannot decide

not dasher but peterson 6BR blown out to 6BRA excellent brass....my first choice in any caliber would be peterson.

I'm very tempted to order a batch to try
Does anyone know what loaded neck thickness is on the Peterson BR/Dasher brass?

Dimensionally Lapua & Peterson br/dasher brass are very similar, at least the latest lot that I just received is. Just use your standard reamer. The Peterson 6x47 brass I have has slightly thicker necks than Lapua, and wants a .274-.275 neck reamer. No need to weight sort brass either for any of them, they are all extremely consistent within the same lot.

Edit: Peterson is measuring .271 at the neck, and Lapua is .269.

Not necessarily true. The properly formed Lapua and Peterson 6 Dasher brass may have very similar external dimensions but you must be aware Peterson is a bit heavier and, upon seeing a cross sectioned Peterson next to Lapua, I can say Peterson has a much thicker case head than ANY of the others out there.
I have shot Lapua hydro-formed for many years and still do in the BR guns but I have Alpha current in use in my Terminus Zeus with good results so far. Also I have 100 Peterson 6 Dasher on the bench and will be starting load work up with them soon.

    this is what i’m getting

    peterson loaded round = .271
Lapua FF loaded round = .268

no too big a deal, either neck turn or run a reamer designed for alpha brass

I have Peterson dasher brass... loaded up 200 break in rounds and have 110 rounds of ladder testing.

    5 powders and 2 bullets

    Berger 105 and 109’s
    N140
    Varget
    4451
    8208
    4350

Should have results end of the week or next week sometime.

I shoot a .272 in the Terminus build and 2715 in all the others so I do a cleanup turning on everything.

pretty much the same for me

    .272 and .2725

depends on your setup and how much brass you keep in circulation

will probably try a .274-.2745 neck in the near future

So I heard a rumor peterson brass was "soft" i did load test today with a bunch of powders and couple bullets. im going to post results below to use at your own risk.**** DISCLAIMER **** I am a novice reloader with help of more experienced people helping me out. this was my test and these are my results.

    Brand new peterson brass
    cci450 primers
21st century expander mandrel .002 neck tension
loaded .010 off my lands in my barrel Loaded with Arbor press

Brand new Dasher barrel broken in at 150 rounds.... stripped and cleaned 5 fouling rounds before test. was conducted in a 100 yrd indoor range climate controlled. used a thermal pyrometer to keep a eye on barrel temp min was 65* max was 85* over length of this test.

First i shot all of my 105's because i knew they would fly the fastest and only shot my 109's around the speed i am wanting between 2850-2950
i shot both of the 4350 because i have plenty of that and only a single pound of the others

looking at the N140 it should be noted on their website they do not have data for a dasher so i used the BR load data and obviously.... was pretty slow so i didnt even bother shooting the 109's i will pull them and dump powder back and probably start at about 30.5

    good stuff

post you barrel length and reamer specs as well if you know them

I'm getting about the same numbers.
looks like a good rule of thumb is 1gr less than lapua, and you'll be pithing 20-30fps

so what exactly was your test? were you testing to see if Peterson brass was soft?
In a way yes, one of my buddies is a national shooter told me he didn’t like it because it was slow for some reason. And I was testing powders out of them to find a wide range of powders to find a suitable replacement for varget

shooters world precision is the best replacement for varget.

not sure what he means by slow or soft but ive shot peterson brass in a 6creed at 3220 for 8 loads then gave it to a buddy that ran it in his rifle...ive also ran peterson in a 260..6BRX and 6BRA...personally i prefer peterson over lapua but im sure your buddy at the national level has good reason not to like it.

he was saying case cap was less than lapua/alpha and was showing pressure signs on low speed charges.

ive heard shooters world wasn’t temp stable, but I’ve heard 8208 wasn’t and another guy on here claim he has very low temp swings from 30° to 90° where he lives so idk

so ive not seen the pressure issues with peterson and i normally run on the warm side but peterson is about a grain less internal capacity than lapua so i run a little more freebore to compensate for it.

as far as SWP being temp stable its about the same as varget from what ive seen...several guys running it here in 6BRAs in summer 90ish till now 20ish in mornings 45ish afternoons...my buddy was out sunday mornring about 20-25 when we started shooting....he was 2920 with a load that was worked up in summer at 2970-2975.

My Peterson dasher brass only has a case capacity of 39.2 (after firing) vs Lapua at 41.2. Definitely less capacity, but not necessarily a bad thing.

interesting... I just had a discussion from Peterson they said their dasher brass has less case cap than anyone else out there. However none of my test loads went above 35.8 which was compressed as hell

how much freebore does your reamer have?

This is awesome!! Thanks for posting, that SW Precision seems to shoot every BIT as well as the Varget!!!

8208 is one of the most temp stable powders we've used. 10fps difference in a 65deg or more swing. From July-feb in eastern NC.

My experience with 8208 is the same on temp sensitivity BUT I have also been dumbfounded by how quickly it will spike pressures in certain cartridges. I shot 29.7 grains 8208 with 107 SMK and CCI450 (WAY OVER recommended) for a couple years and saw zero signs of over-pressure or problems with primer pockets, etc. I gave the same powder a test with 7MM08 and Lapua brass and 168 SMK. Starting 10% below and working up, I found no sign of any pressure issue until I started to process the fired brass. Primers fell out easily and pockets were totally ruined in one firing and that was still well below the published max for the cartridge.

I've seen it have pressure issues with heavy for caliber bullets & overbore cases, especially when trying to go fast. I'm surprised you had issues with primer pockets with it if it didn't show any other pressure signs though. Almost sounds like a chamber or brass issue, not powder.

Lapua brass and a GAP barrel on my AIAW. No problem with stiff loads of H4350 or RL17. There were no ejector marks, no pierced primers and no other tell-tale signs. The remaining brass never showed any sign of failure.
