I can get AR4500 IPSC targets significantly cheaper than AR500. For shooting past say 3-400 yards out to 1k with 6.5CM and 300WM, would they hold up ya think?

Plan to buy 10 targets so this will save a ton of cash.

Depends on the thickness. I bought a couple AR400 targets from the local metal supplier, 1/4" IIRC, bent the hell out of them with 300WM @ 525 yards.
Picked up a pack of AR500 3/8" thick targets from Field & Cave and what a difference! No dents, just splash; same distance.
Apples and oranges comparison, but it still makes a difference.

As your distances increase, the quality of your target steel can decrease.

I have a mate that works at a steel distribution centre, plasma cuts scrap into targets half inch BIS450 stops 338 lap at 100 yards without any significant damage, goes straight through mild out a fair way. I'd definitely give them a go.

3/4 Would have no issues at all. The only issue you may have is smaller rounds going faster may gouge it but if your only shooting creedmoor and win mag you will be fine

I have 10 targets of AR400 that are 3/8 thick. As with any target speed kills. These work great at 200yds and further. I have had a couple of them get dimpled at 100 yards with bullets faster than 3000 fps.

I would buy AR400 again. Do it.

5/8 and 3/4 is what I can get cheap.. Cut 2/3 IPSC for $50.

Won't be shooting anything less than 400 yards.
AR 450 will serve you well at that distance and beyond. If you can follow the plan, lol.
A few beers, bright ideas from friends, next you are shooting them at 10-25 yards playing operator with AR's in your homemade uspsa match.

Oh shit, that was me.
