Rifle Scopes Are sunshades compatible across brands? Can't find Nikon....

I purchased a Nikon M-Tactical 3-9x42 scope. I can not find the nikon sunshade anywhere, it is out of stock at Nikon and everywhere else I've looked. Not surprising with the recent demise of Nikon Sport Optics.

Will a 42mm sunshade from a different brand fit? I guess the main thing is are the threads the same?

Did you try contacting Nikon direct? I know they were still servicing some riflescopes, just not producing them any longer. Might check with EuroOptic as well as they still are showing some closeouts.

Good point. I'll do both. EuroOptic.com's Nikon availability is going fast. I've been watching several items, most which are gone now, and that specific part is a no go on their website. They have great customer service so its worth a try.

The only other place I found that has something that might work looks sketchy as fuck, and it seems that no one knows if the Monarch sunshade, part #7162 will work.

Off to call Nikon Monday and figure out a better path or alternative. For those that may also need the throw lever for these scopes, they're almost sold out on Amazon.

Heck, even the sunshades among the same manufacturer aren’t cross compatible. A 56mm shade for an Athlon Ares won’t fit a Cronus.

I called in and Tim @nikon informed me that they didn't make a sunshade for this specific M-Tactical scope and they couldn't verify if sunshade model 7162 Monarch 42mm Black Matte would fit. If I find a 7162 to try ill report back. The concern I have is that the tube size on the 3-12x42SF Monarch/M-223 specific scope in question is 1" whereas ours is 30mm so its a 50/50 shot things will work even though its the same 42mm OBJ size.

So Rantegay.com looked like a scam, felt like a scam, turned out to be a fraudulent website and I got scammed. Only thing received was a lesson I knew I would learn. Fraud claim started.
