By the way members, we are up to 5 pages with limited input by some of our SH regulars. I checked a bit ago, and we had 3 threads on MOA vs MILS or inch vs meters in the last 12 months. So my proposal to limit it to an ongoing thread visited every February is quite serious. We might as well have one thread that contains it all, serious and sarcastic.

How many clicks is an arshin at 600yds and does it come in SFP? If the answer is a weird fraction and “yes”, then I vote it be included as a proper unit of measure for all future SH matters.
So, I've been working on a prototype all afternoon and this is what I have so far. The left scope is a MOA combinator, and the right scope is a Mil combulator, and the sextant up top combines the two into semi-centis and zeroes all the error.
47.4 nautical clicks if north of the equator. 17 faps at 12 degrees if south of the equator.

But isn’t measuring angles in degrees a little old fashioned? Can’t someone invent something new that essentially measures the same thing but has a cooler new name?
New math (invented in the 60s, which kinda makes it slightly-less-old math...) makes more sense in base-10 units. So let’s replace degrees w milli-circle units, chopping a circle into 1,000 pieces instead of 3.14 or 360 pieces. Micro circles would be 1/1,000th of a milli circle.

Here is why I proposed February as “National MOA vs MIL month” here on Snipers Hide. And I did not go back to far, because these were quite informative, and yet never read by anyone who asks about our now favorite topic. As such, I wanted to make sure they are properly enshrined in this thread.
They all start out serious, and then the olive branches get tossed aside and the gloves come off. So mostly the same progression each time. However, through teamwork and hard work, this thread has achieved new heights. You people are awesome.
PS. The Mar 2020 throw down, whose dick is biggest contest, was totally unexpected (and ended pretty well).

That's funny, because I am an engineer too. A network engineer, so I have to design and operate most of the time, It's amazing such a simple concept that so many people are confused about or just repeat what someone else told them.
Engineers typical look at the why behind something, not just throw some shit in a calculator or use a conversion card.
I made the point about I don't really care which one is better or not. That is impossible to make an augment against because it's all relative to the person using it.
Only difference between the two:
Mil is metric, MOA is mostly used with imperial (for shooting) not really associated with metric or imperial.

I get MOA is just MOA.. has nothing to do with feet or inches. It just so happens to line up that way magically to make estimating math easier

It really isn't coincidental. The ancient calendar was 360 days in a lot of cultures. 360 was a number familiar to all. Therefore common factors of 360 were often used when devising linear measurements.
But the point of my post was to poke fun of the fact that even though degrees and minutes are standard for navigation, you still have 3 different formats to cause confusion.
I meant for the engineer in imperial linear measurement.
