That's bullshit.

What we need is to fire the sumbitches that shut down coal fired plants, that allocated too damn much money to those wretched windmills, that failed spend that money on winterizing natural gas fired power plants. We never need federal aid. I thought hurricane Harvey showed that. FEMA showed up and didn't really do shit. Bunch of Texans and Louisianans did most of the heavy lifting.

Here's a pic of my buddy sent of the local HEB

Oh and apparently the water pumping station that services his neighborhood is frozen and hasn't had water service for a few days.
A lot of that going on down there. My brother outside of Houston was melting ice and snow on his wood stove and my sister outside of Austin lives on a lake, so used lake water, to flush with.

A lot of the empty shelves are from power loss and the temps got out of spec and they had to throw a ton of food away and couldnt sell it.

I knew the storm was coming. I went and filled all of our water jugs and got kerosine for the heater. I filled up all of my vehicles too. We have charcoal, wood and propane burners to make food. We have plenty of food and I made sure I had beer on hand. You just have to watch the weather and realize you need to prepare. Most people don't even realize it. My wife is one of them, even after I told her what I was doing to get ready for the snow that was coming.

I always see stuff like this as criticism of how southerners handle snow, and it’s good for a laugh, but why the hell would anyone condone their state spending millions on plows and salt trucks for a weather event that almost never happens?I have a multi fuel generator, gas fire place, wood fireplace, propane stove and plenty of fuel and food stored and a creek provides water. Im ok spending my money to be prepared for me and my family, but I don’t like being forced to pay for what some bureaucrat thinks “we” need to plan for.
