Lead time on Knights SR25?

Guys, I thought I was patient when I placed my order for a 20" SR25 APR o/a 16 September. They dutifully quoted me a 90+ day lead time. I didn't give it a 2nd thought until this week, when I realized the 90 days had passed. Last time I talked to the guy I placed the order with, he really couldn't get more specific. So, I was hoping that maybe someone around here has recently, in the last 3 months or so, received an SR25 from them, and could give me an idea of how long their order took to be fulfilled.

Since then, I've ordered several other Knights products and received a QDC/CQB suppressor, though that's still in jail, 2 MAMS, 1 flash hider, and even a spare BCG assembly from them for the SR25. However, the SR25 and QDC/PRS suppressor were ordered at the same time and I'm still waiting. Does anyone have any light to shed on the wait times for these?

I've also got an SR30 on order with them, but I don't think I ordered that until late NOV - early DEC. So, no rush on that one yet, but I'd still love to hear any recent experiences.

Thanks!

Try AR15.com they have a KAC industry page with a couple KAC dudes you can interact with. None of us keyboard snipers here on the Hide are going to have any better insight. For what it's worth though, I got on the SR-25 list with Chuck at Kelly Enterprises last year in August and it took about 3 months for him to call me. No idea how long he had the order in at KAC but that was my personal timeline.

I ordered another SR25 (6.5cm) on May 26th

I ordered a KAC suppressor for it at the same time and my dealer just received it.

I figure I'm at least another 3 months out on the SR25. Covid still has everyone behind.

90 days was accurate turnaround time on my first two SR25 purchases

Wow. Thanks @texag0842

So, I should reset expectations for the SR25. Looks like you're around 8 months for the SR25 and you still believe another 3 months. So, 11 months. Ouch! It's a painful wait, but it still helps to reset expectations. Might have to buy some other guns to help tide me over, now ;-)

In this environment nothing is normal or on time... Everything is overloaded and way behind. That comes from lots of industry leaders Ive talked to over the last month. Time frames are WAY longer than they EVER have been. Just forget about it like buying a can.

You know, interestingly, I ordered a can after the SR25 and got it within about a month. But I ordered a different can with the SR25, and still haven't received it. I'm definitely not in a hurry, and at least Knights doesn't charge you until they fulfill the order. But yeah... I'm anxious to get it, and had the wrong expectation in my mind. Managing expectations is the critical skill maintaining patience.

@Praetorian_6 they're a small shop so worst case you can call over and ask. I just expect things to take 12 months now days.

If it makes you feel better both SR25 test targets of mine are under .75moa

Very nice! That would be a pleasure to see.

Well, I did ask, and I could tell they're under the gun, no pun intended. I don't have any interest in pestering. Just wanted to get a feel for what others have recently experienced and I thank you for providing the feedback I was looking for. My expectations are reset to August-September 2021 for delivery. That'll help settle my anxiousness for a while.

You got a can in a month???

yeah. Let me check...

So... It looks like I place the order o/a 23OCT. The notification of shipment went out on 17NOV, and I was there processing the ATF form (4?) on 23NOV.

So, yeah. It turns out it was actually less than a month. It was a strange call when I ordered it. The guy had to go ask if they still made the suppressor. I guess it wasn't a very popular one, and maybe they're canceling production or maybe they're moving over to the new line of low back pressure suppressors. The one I ordered was a 7.62 QDC/CQB suppressor (pn30179-BLK). Now, I still don't actually have it in my possession as I'm waiting for the ATF form to clear. I'm not sure if that's what you mean, but the can is at the gun store down the road in a box.

Thats what I thought. It was shipped from the manufacturer to your dealer in under a month. That actually seems longer than it should have taken...

The QDC/PRS suppressor I ordered in September still hasn't shipped from Knights.

What is the best way to reach Chuck? Seems emails never receive a reply.

They checked with the production scheduler there and told me that I will be in the next lot of 100, and that would be produced within the next 60 days. So, I guess the 308s are moving a little faster.

This turned out to be false. I know I posted it here in March, but they told me this prior to a trip I took starting 20 February, where I called because I didn't want to miss my 10-day payment window in case they came through with any of my orders. I've heard Patrick say the 'getting close' thing, too. I think he/they think that kind of reassurance is a good thing. I disagree, because it confuses expectations. The bottom line there, is that I'm glad I'd already made this thread. Don't let KAC input affect/manage your expectations, or you may be disappointed. I'm back to the expectation that this thread has given me of about a year. So, maybe I'll see the SR-25 in September. Will update when it actually comes in.

On the QDC/PRS suppressor I ordered with the SR-25 last SEP, the jury's out. I know they're gearing up for a large .gov contract, after which they stopped taking commercial orders for suppressors. Though they said my order was in well before that contract was placed and will be honored before the contract, I'm sure this has thrown a monkey-wrench in everything. I'm not too worried about it. If I get it 2 years from now or not at all, it's not going to change anything for me.

The QDC/CQB suppressor is still in ATF quarantine. I think I'm starting to get close, maybe in the window now, according to the lead times people have seen using the silencer shop electronic submission process at my SOT. Maybe I'll see that in the next month or 2. I filed it at the end of November, per an earlier post I made in this thread.

My SR-30 lower shipped at the end of April. I think I ordered this back in November/Dec. I ordered an upper and lower separately, but on the same day, because I wanted to give myself the option of SBR or Pistol. Well, the upper did not ship with the lower. I wonder if a rifle would have come in the production batch I got my lower from. The lower is nice. The ambi controls are cool, and though I wouldn't hesitate to build my own ambi lower from aero-precision, as I have 2 other times, the knights really wasn't that much more in cost. So, I'm happy with both types of lower.

They have had and still have them available for immediate sale on Gunbroker.com.

... for an extra $2-3k and possibly without manufacturer support.

While the long lead times are frustrating, One really can't expect to go up to a defense contractor, 6 months into a pandemic while most major cities are on fire, with an anti gun democrat running for White House and say good day kind sir, While i know that your two most popular rifles are the 16 inch variants, I would like to order the less popular 20 inch variant and be surprised about a delay. Also, although I just submitted an order for around 9 grand, I am no way willing to pay any premium to reduce my wait time by 90 percent.

Considering the number of Kac community groups on social media, its really not hard to run down, pretty much anything you may be looking for.

On your last note, complete sr-25 lower receiver assembly kits just came in stock at $1,499

ohhhhh...

Tempting... I am currently in the Middle East, My FFL Just received two LMT Mars lowers, I have no clue when I am going to be back in the states, Why does this seem like a really good idea...

Do you take crypto?

LoL

Moral of the story, Kac stuff is out there and there are vendors that are not bending people, and just try to remember the moving forward once things normalize

I think they're far more likely to stand behind any product and correct any problem when I buy it directly from them. There are far fewer chances for unnecessary complications when I go manufacturer-direct, as opposed to some faceless dude off of gunbroker. If you disagree, then I support your right to spend your money as you see fit. Thanks for supporting mine.

The thread has helped me manage my expectations regarding knights' products lead times. I'd appreciate any insight you have on that front. Thanks for your insights and suggestions. Take care.

KAC will stand behind their product regardless of whether or not you are the original owner.

That said, I definitely would not overpay and do like the idea of being the first person to our rounds down the barrel, especially if you are going to spend the money for an SR25. Just know that you won’t be assed-out from Knight’s perspective if you buy used.

Glad to hear their reputation is excellent! That's a big part of why I want one.

SR-30 upper invoice came due. They must be sending the upper in the next couple business days. Yay! Now, I'll need to find some ammo that's cheaper than the gun!

We're at 10 months on the SR-25 & QDC/PRS Suppressor.

We're at 8 months on the Tax Stamp for the QDC/CQB suppressor.

The SR-30 shoots beautifully. I was plinking targets at 200 yards with Hornady subsonics.

My 1 year anniversary of placing an order for an SR-25 & QDC/PRS suppressor has come and gone. As far as I can tell, there's just no figuring it. If they told me back in February that I would be sold one in the next batch, then they didn't make a single batch of them in a 7 month period.

There's some good news though: the QDC/CQB, delivered last November, should be in my hands soon as the ATF/NFA informed me that the tax stamp was approved. But, apparently they take 45 days to mail the approval.

I've had an SR15 upper back ordered for 9 months. Lead time changed from last month till march.

That sounds about par for the course. And, don't expect it in March, either. They can't provide any reasonable expectation, and when they've said that I was getting close and could be any time, that was 9 months ago.

14 months and counting.

I was quoted “6-9 months or more” from KAC direct, for a SR-25 PC. That was in June.

I doubt anyone will be seeing stuff anytime soon tbh

Looks like KAC accurately forecast something. Though you said 13 months, this post was 6 months ago. So, maybe it was closer to 15 months? Anyways, it's nice to know that they are still on some kind of schedule.

I had made a mistake, I had back ordered something different in January. I back ordered the kac February 17th. It was pretty much spot on 13 months.
