Well. My new barrel is finished and got the text saying she’s ready for pick up. The brake and scope aren’t mine. My TT is on my vudoo and my can is at home. Fritz got it done 2 days earlier than quoted, and his photography is A-1. I have no reservations it’s going to be a hammer!

Sweet rig! Yes Fritz is a great dude. I'm having him do another barrel for me also. Top notch.

Has anyone found a finish that’s close to pale brown? Got a 16.5” 6.5cm barrel ordered from PVA and almost added the graphite black cerakote but figured I’d try to play the color match game first.

Rust-oleum Nutmeg is a perfect match

Hell..yeah!! That beats $100-150 cerakote jobs lol 90% of the barrel will be covered by the hand guard so I’m not worried about it being super durable.

Sounds like you have experience @Huskydriver . What primer do you recommend? BTW I half ass regret the rail trade after the 16.5” wants lol. I just got the 13” Victor Rail in the mail and I’m a fan so all is well!

Just gave the barrel a good wipe down with a scotch pad with acetone then used the rust-oleum high temp primer

FYI...
EuroOptic just added some AX LE 20MOA action rails to their site.
Going to assume that these are long action so you can run 20MOA on your #Discontinued AXMC and pop on the new AXSR RRS forend for the continuous cant.
...Thus giving you at least a taste of the AXMC LE style setup.

What powder you running?
Not to get off topic because this is a pic thread but VV N150, and Varget. I like the speed of Varget but I'm getting primer cratering at 44.1 grains. VV I'm at compressed loads at the same grain weight with no pressure sign but it's about 50 FPS slower.

Good to know

I'm no expert by any means but throwing this out to anyone interested.

I've had GREAT luck out of IMR 4451.

26 inch 6.5cm sending 147 ELD's at 2858 fps with 9 inch form 1 can

My 175OTM var get load is 44.8 (Lapua brass & not an AI), you may find another node around 43.5gr.

Well, I sold my ARC match rifle this week so I'll be strictly rocking the AI for the foreseeable future. Makes things easier with 1 gun to choose from. Now, my only decision will be dasher, 25cm, 6cm, or 6.5cm barrel. 🤣

Anyone a gunsmith in here or know a gunsmith I can ask some questions about the AXMC/AXSR?
Curious how much space is supposed to be between the bolt/breech ring and the barrel face. Was talking with a gentleman about it and it had me wondering what the correct space is. We were talking about the differences in a standard two lug and the breech ring.
