Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

This was all located under ONE pine tree in my back yard, literally 75 feet from my back door, two years ago. Last year’s haul was almost as good. May 23 is always the prime day for my mushroom harvest. I enjoy finding them, but don’t really like mushrooms. My friends and coworkers really seem to enjoy receiving them.

I'll probably catch a lot of flack for this but will say it anyway.

I was taught that the flag is not a piece of clothing. It's also fair to say that the folks who founded this country and the original designers of "Old Glory," would not approve of it being worn this way.

4 U.S. Code § 8.Respect for flag:

(d)The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

(j)No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

If we don't show respect for our flag then how can we expect anyone, foreign or domestic, to respect the country which it represents? If we don't show respect for the flag then how can we expect anyone to respect our Constitution and the rights codified therein?

I'm sure that you meant well with your posting but I could not let this lapse without saying anything or respectfully expressing my disapproval.
It seems since Obama was in charge up till now , the flag has been used and abused more and more. Seems it is ALWAYS at half staff for one reason or another.
Then after the said time of mourning is over it still stays down. Back in the day , it was only lowered for someone or something really important, now it only takes a deranged person to do others harm , then the flag goes back down. ☹️
When I was young and in grade school it was a honor and privilege to raise and lower our flag every day. I still feel that way to this day.
I also worked at a National Cemetery during college and proper flag etiquette was a
every day event. We took handling it correctly very serious. If I see the flag abused or misused, I have 0 problem telling whomever is responsible to rectify it quickly. I have been told everything from thanks , to get off my property.

Let's be real since you want the law to read your way, as compared to how it's worded and understood.

First: IF one took a flag, then created a t-shirt from said flag ...your post would be spot on.
Second: IF one took a t-shirt then created/replicated the pattern/design of the US flag into the material....your post is 100% wrong.

The law references the flag......hence you would first need a flag THEN use it as clothing. The law says nothing about using a t-shirt that has the appearance/design of the flag as part of it's material.

I am not attempting to get the law to read my way. You do, indeed, make a good point that if one were to fabricate an article of clothing that "created/replicated the pattern/design of the US flag into the material," that would not be illegal.

That doesn't mean that I like it. It would not be illegal.

In the photograph that I criticized it doesn't appear that she is wearing an article of clothing patterned after the US flag.

It certainly looks like a flag that has arm holes cut into it and draped across her body.

So I stand by my earlier statement.

Bingo! Every time I see a flag at half mast I turn to my wife and say "Oh look, the President must have died". My flag flies at full mast unless it's before noon on Memorial Day.

Okay....so you don't know for sure if there is a flag used as clothing in that image, clothing created with the flag image, OR an image that has been edited with the flag added to create the image as a model wearing an article of clothing looking as if it were a US flag.

Seems to be QUITE a bit of "possible" answers left to gather. We will never know.

If it looks like a full flag, would work like a full flag, then it is a full flag. You dont cut arm holes in a flag to wear it. If it was photoshopped that way its still not OK.

It is either a flag or it isn't. I say it's a flag.

Reasonable suspicion....pretty far from Probable Cause........

And on the other arm you can have childhood survival ribbons... Hit in the head with a baseball, fights in school, pre eighties discipline falling off your bike, jumping the irrigation ditch (trying), bit by squirrel, not raped in Boy Scouts, playing outside, leaving my dad's tools in the yard, falling out of a tree, falling off a roof, fucking my babysitter, running and working out during PE, no cell phone or Internet,

BB gun fights, leaded gasoline bombs, m-80s, stealing out of the neighbors fruit trees, playing with snakes, the list is long my man.

That law is virtually unenforceable if the first amendment is in play.

I have no interest in facing the American flag… But by the same token if it goes to the supreme court you’re gonna have a hard time.

...And as others have pointed out having a flag a T-shirt or a flag anything piece of clothing that is not made out of an actual flag is obviously not an issue.

How old would you be that you still need a babysitter yet bang her at the same time? Out with the story man...

Also suspect the "not raped in Boy Scouts"?

Wait - reminds me of the old riddle:

Where do the get virgin wool?

Ugly sheep.

My dad was one of the chaperones so I at least had him standing watch and keeping the wolves away.

Dirty D has a mushroom in some grass you can find.

I have a younger brother and sister, so...I was 14 but hung better than her boyfriend. When mom and dad found out she was no longer allowed to babysit for us... I think that was more of a mom decision than a dad decision

Get off the babysitter!

Number one, no, she was hot.

Did you know you have to actually have kids to hire a babysitter ... being a man child doesn't count
