Suppressor as adjustable tuner (possibly stupid)

The adjustable barrel tuners I have seen appear to work by moving a mass forward and back along the centreline of the barrel. Since my moderator is a mass which screws on the end of the barrel, would it be possible to tune the barrel by shimming the suppressor? I have the capacity to mill some threaded nuts down to 1/32" or so, so I can still do everything up tight.

Makes sense tbh. Ive tried using tuners in my limited experience and they haven’t worked miracles for me.
Lockdown in the UK is giving me the opportunity to really overthink everything to the nth degree. I am not convinced on the effectiveness of this approach but I suppose it won't hurt to show up at the range (when they re-open) with a box of ammunition and a handful of washers. As long as I don't shoot a hole in the side of the can it's just a bit of wasted ammunition and a morning having fun!

Few thoughts
Suppressor changes weight while shooting, especially rimfire because so dirty.
If end cap is removable you could vary weight that way or a suppressor cover etc.
The rifles that I have that shoot tiny all have very thick stiff barrels and I find the load that works best.

I had not considered the first two points, thank you. Maybe I'll pour some steel BBs into the moderator like I did with the voids in the stock ;)

You may be on to something with the barrel weight comment too - It's a Howa 1500 varmint, reasonably heavy. Moderators are designed to be light (ish) so the ratio of masses might not be high enough for the barrel to notice that the mass has moved. I don't know anything about harmonic tuning, so I don't have a feel for the effect of varying mass or position on the behaviour of the barrel.

I've noticed my groups tighten up as my suppressor gains weight. After I clean the suppressor the groups open to 3/4 moa after about 250 rounds they go to a ragged hole. This has been confirmed with a couple cleaning cycles.
