Derek Chauvin 'defense'

He wasn't an animal, he was man with a drug problem. He needed to help himself before anyone else could help him.

What bothers me about this incident is the media's portrayal, and the people who suck it up. There is a reason the used the part of video they did, and there is a reason Facebook was deleting other parts of the video.

Nothing new, media has been doing that for decades. Look at how they presented Trayvon Martin

He was a man with a drug problem and a crime problem.
We are talking about a guy who had a THIRTY year history of drug possession and sale convictions...

and when he says "I took too much" - I think he was his own expert.

nope...I had to make a spread sheet to list his convictions: Two in the 1990's for cocaine (no time served), August 1998 ten months served for firearms robbery, April 2002 thirty days for trespassing, October 2002 eight months served for cocaine, 2004 ten months served for cocaine, 2009 conviction was for the 2007 incident of armed robbery where he held the gun to the pregnant woman's abdomen.

The two are often quite intermingled. The question always becomes, would he have turned to crime if he could get his fix legally.

I think you guys who are jerking off to the fake bill notion need to look at the footage from inside Cup Foods and you will see it is Floyd's drug dealer friend who is handing out the fake bills and Floyd was just high the whole time not even paying attention what he's being handed to pay for his cigs. This is NOT a case of a counterfeit bill, this is a case of a drug deal gone really wrong outside and across from Cup Foods. Why else would anyone stay outside in a car that long? Floyd is a piece of shit and so is his drug dealer friend who doesn't have the balls to testify in court, but I believe EVERYONE deserves a fair trial and that includes the state of MN v Derek Chauvin.

Getting the drugs wasn't his problem.......paying for his drugs could have been.

But that still doesn't excuse his crimes....there is 0 justification for that.

If he had only petty theft charges, you migh have a more convincing argument.

But assaulting women?.....can we use that for other forms of addiction?

Would it be acceptable for me to assault a woman because I had a drinking problem?......booze is legal afterall....

Was watching we're they mentioned carbon monoxide...lol. I remember when all this first came out the first thing I said was... I hope the truck is off. Didn't really think much of it because the officers were hanging about there during the same time.

If it's a hung jury... it'll get brought up during the next trial... LOL

the prosecution's expert witness was forced to testify that floyd's oxygen saturation level was 98%, so i am going to go out on a limb and say it wasn't a lack of oxygen that killed him, or any restrictions on his breathing by the officers that would have killed him.

The cop car was a hybrid and the gas engine was off the whole time.

No shit? didn't know that.
Guess that makes sense as to why the officers didn't have an issue as I said

Yeah, the whole CO thing was a real outlier in the defense case. Not sure why it was brought up to begin with when the prosecuting team pretty much summed it up when they were talking about the hybrid cop cars being left on all night running off the electric motors and not the gas. I admit I'm very ignorant when it comes to hybrid vehicles, but from what I know little about them is that the gas engines don't kick on unless the vehicle is moving.

You're shittin me right? Did nobody tell the cops that batteries only have so many cycles in them? Wonder how much that battery bill is.

I don't think this is gonna be a hung jury, but I think Chauvin is gonna walk on the mistrial thing because nobody is keeping their stories straight and the one guy we wanna hear from (Floyd's drug dealer) has taken the 5th and won't testify. It's sad that so many small businesses will be burned down, but that's the sad outcome of a media and politically fused trial. :( RIP Minneapolis

I wasn't making an argument about anything. I didn't say anything was justified. I posed a question that would about be equivalent to asking, which came first, the chicken or the egg.

Was he laundering the funny money for the dealer? Is that possibly why the dealer took the 5th to stay off the stand?

It was especially stupid because Floyd complained of Shortness of Breath even before being on the ground...should have gone with the "other factors" affecting his heart. When you are having a heart attack, you are short of breath. No exogenous carbon monoxide needed.

his lawyer said he would incriminate himself for at least simple possession because drugs were found in the car.
therefore, "he cannot give any testimony that would place him in the car with floyd."

Also gotta remember what carbon monoxide does compared to carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide displaces O2 in the lungs. Carbon monoxide on the other hand is a toxic gas, NOT an inert gas like CO2. Carbon monoxide doesn't displace O2, it pretty much kills you because it's a toxic gas not inert.

Around here if the dealer is found to have given the drugs related to a death the dealer is prosecuted for the death, in some manner.

If Floyd's death is ruled to be an overdose of fentanyl, the dealer could be charged with 3rd degree murder. That's why he's not testifying. Most dealers like that are stupid mindless fucks, but in this case he's smart.

More specifically when your red blood cells are exposed to a bit too much carbon monoxide, they can no longer carry oxygen around the body.

If the prosecution had a case they would have given the drug dealer immunity

Apparently the Prosecution had a novel approach to Discovery. Andrew Branca wrote, "since the start of the trial the state has made 12 additional disclosures to the defense, consisting of 5,154 additional Bates stamped items.” Pretty sure that number has increased in the mean time. For any of you in the game, how unusual is that, really?

After thinking about ... I need new carpet for the guest bedroom so I’m heading up to hear the verdict and then I’m going to rob a carpet store...you know what? Fuck it..... I’m going to get two new lamps as well. If anyone has any requests send them my way and I’ll see what I can do. My kid wants a new lego Star Wars set from target but I know I’ll be going up against that little white bastard from the first looting and I’m sure he’s hungry for more legos.....

Could you look out for a really clean 1970 Hemi Cuda. Preferably rebuilt, all original too. If not, I'll settle for a 1969 Superbird.

Thanks!

Eh, not exactly - both are technically toxic, but via different mechanisms. You can "suffocate" in an environment with sufficient O2 and excess CO2. It's not common, but it happens in certain confined environments. The most likely situation is that the CO2 accumulates from combustion gases, dry ice, etc. and simply displaces O2 to the point where the partial pressure of O2 is insufficient to support respiration.

Details aside, the mention of CO by the defense was... strange. First, modern cars don't emit all that much CO. I wouldn't recommend huffing on a tailpipe, but CO emissions have been reduced by orders of magnitude over the emissions-control era. Second, even laying close to an exhaust pipe outdoors doesn't create a confined space. Third, presence or lack thereof of CO can presumably be confirmed from a standard toxicology report.

I think it was an attempt to generate doubt in the minds of the jury, which is usually a laudable goal for the defense. In this case, it seems like they would have been better to rely on claims that Floyd did this to himself via poor health and drug ingestion.

It looks to be like Chauvin will be found not guilty, or the jury will be hung. Look at the clip of Chauvin conversing with his lawyer and the judge when refusing to take the stand. He looked cool, calm, and confident - just like a guy walking into a test that he knows he is about to ace.

i don't know if i would spare the officer at the expense of peace.
i mean...it is easy when it doesn't count and your family won't be killed by mobs.

“An argument from authority (argumentum ab auctoritate), also called an appeal to authority, or argumentum ad verecundiam, is a form of argument in which the opinion of an authority on a topic is used as evidence to support an argument. “

I don’t have a degree in slamming my dick in the door, but I don’t think I need a degree in slamming my dick in a door to know it’s a bad idea.

I don’t think he’s guilty of murder, but if you’re going to argue a point argue the point, the “well you don’t have a degree” is pretty weak. See fauchi and “trust the experts” or “government knows best”

Pretty easy to hurt your feelings. It's a joke you took personally. AFA arguing the point...not interested. This is just entertainment while I watch the granddaughter.

Do you really think that a guilty finding is going to prevent anything from happening?

What does it mean to sacrifice an individual for the betterment of all?

If he is guilty fine, but if he isn’t guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, he should walk just like a million other dirtbags before him.

Here is the rub with “open, free discourses” with the communist faggots in this thread. When they bring up a point it gets refuted. When the normal Americans bring up a point that defeats their argument they pretend they did not hear it...like “THE CAUSE OF DEATH“ in a murder trial...

This kind of idiocy is what leads to the insults, and right so. Willful ignorance is an ugly and sinful thing.

Not sure if that’s a shot across my bow

If so, yeah, but that’s not 85% of this topic.

It’s a bunch of insults and calling people commies, and I don’t even think folks even know what commie means aside from it’s a bad thing.

It’s not speak (or type) your counter point, then call names, it’s a “you’re so dumb I won’t even say my counter point, but it’s a really good one” and calling names.
I’ve asked people to refute whatever I said they disagreed with and it tends to fall back to them describing some type of male on male sexual deal, it’s odd.

Well, that and people incapable of leaving their emotions at the door. I enjoy a debate. I have a very liberal niece (shrink) and we have some great arguments, never get upset or call names and love each other to death. She will call me out if I refer to fags as fags.

I do not mean gay men when I use that term.

Having been a HS nerd and on the two-man debate team; when the other side does not even offer a defense for a point that point gets moved across the page into the win column. Several of those and the debate is over even if the other side is more passionate. Ignoring salient facts completely is a hallmark of the left.

They don't care about facts. They care about feels. It is impossible to have an actual, reasoned debate with someone whose emotions rule them.

faggot for most of us has nothing to do with sexuality. it means wimp, weakling or pussy.
on the other hand, pillow biter or butt pirate might refer more exclusively to gay men.

Fag is a proper word to describe someone who is gay and that you disapprove of their life style.

Fag is a pejorative term used to describe a gay person when you don't approve of that life style.

pejorative means:

adjective-
expressing contempt or disapproval.

noun-
a word expressing contempt or disapproval.

we also played a game called "smear the queer", which entailed chasing and tackling whoever has the tennis ball, at which point they release the ball and somebody else grabs it and tries to avoid being caught and tackled.
we played on the blacktop at parochial school.
and it had nothing to do with sexual preference.
and the toughest queer was a girl named mary benham.

It's also to work hard or toil, a bundle of sticks, and a cigarette, and certainly meant it as a pejorative, but not about sexuality. Rather my use is akin to bastard, asshole, tosser, etc. More a general jerk/idiot than against anyone in particular.

I have a few gay friends. All my friends are sinners. I have nothing against gay people. I fucking hate leftists and communists with all my being.

a faggot is also a kind of meatball, usually made with minced offal (pig heart and liver...)
faggots and mushy peas is a traditional english meal that i had to try just because, along with spotted dick for dessert.
i personally cannot say that i like faggots (or mushy peas or spotted dick) and i don't think that is being homophobic.
