With powder being so difficult to find right now, I decided to order some FSP-749. This is pull down powder and supposed to load extremely similar to Reloder 15. This came in two 8lb jugs but I only want one of them, so I am selling the other 8lb jug. I am not willing to ship.. local sale only, I'm in the Denver area. $175 for the jug.

EDIT: added pics

To bad you can’t ship it, I would take it off your hands... Bummer...;

Sorry OneShot, good luck with your search!

I had a chance to load up about 30 rounds and head to the range to try this powder out today. Seems to be pretty close to RL15 as stated. I had a several groups (3 shot) with SD's in the single digits so this stuff seems to be pretty good.

I just got some of this powder from Gun Broker. How well does this meter?

Im in cheyenne, where can I find load data? Or it’s exactly R-15? I’d use it for 223 and dasher

Koltz: its a flake powder (which I’d never used up until now) so it just meters okay. I reload with a single stage and almost always use my trickler anyway, so this doesn’t bother me.

Sam: it is pretty similar to RL-15.. if anything maybe a tad slower. I started by using RL-15 load data and then reducing everything by another 10% just to be safe.

Thanks for the info. Have you had a chance to fire any of the rounds you've reloaded with this powder? I've been trying to find reviews on it, but haven't been able to so far. Anything you can tell me about the powder would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yes I loaded and fired 30 rounds of 270 Win using 130gr Nosler Accubonds in federal cases with federal primers. This is out of a 24 barrel. Starting at 39gr I got an average velocity of 2635fps and worked up to 47gr for an average of 3116fps. Got pressure signs at 48gr and stopped there.

I originally purchased this powder for making M118LR “replica” loads to run through my Rem700. I have not had a chance to test these yet as I just got the rifle back from being rebarreled. I will report back after I get a chance to test.

Awesome! I picked it up to load .223. I have read mixed reviews about their ammo and wondered what the quality of the powder was.

Had a chance to get out today and test some 308 loads using this powder. These are out of a 24" barrel, using GM210M primers, LC brass, 175gr SMKs with ~2.810" COAL. See the graph below. Started seeing very minor pressure signs at 39.5 grains. Also worth noting that anything above that will likely be a compressed load.. that is using FC brass at least.

As always, start low and work up. This data is for reference only. Also, the 8 lb jug is still for sale.

I purchased two 16lb lots of FSP-749 off of Gunbroker last week and loaded up a few rounds to chronograph. Using data published by FedArm that it was similar to RL15 I started out with a load I use in my AR15 with a 20" service rifle barrel. The load was 23.5grs of FSP749 using a 69gr SMK in a Nato case with a CCI450 primer, this load averaged 3040fps which was too hot. I dropped down to 22.7grs of FSP749 with the 69gr SMK and it was 2900fps at the muzzle, not bad. I'll probably try 22.5 grains as I would like to get it at 2850fps. This powder is closer to AR-Comp than R-15. Additionally FSP749 is a square flake and is rather bulky in the case, I used a 6' drop tube to get it settled in better than straight from a funnel. A drop tube on your powder measure will probably do well too.
