We're happy to announce that the AB Synapse - Garmin app is now available on both Android and iOS. This app allows you to create ballistic profiles and send them to your Garmin Tactix Delta Solar with Ballistics watch. It has full access to the Applied Ballistics Bullet Library including all CDMs and PDMs for profile creation.

In addition to installing the mobile app, you'll need the latest software for the watch which has been rolling out this week. The easiest way to update is using Garmin Express from your computer. The required version is 15.20.

Allllllasss!!

To clarify, this app as I see it, only allows you to create a profile on your phone which then lets you dump it into the Garmin AB watch, right? It does not allow connectivity to a Kestrel w/ AB and Link to transfer profiles in that capacity.

That is correct.

I've played around with it a bit and here's what I've found. Please correct me if I'm missing something obvious.

  • You can't pull profiles from the watch to the app. You have to build and push them from the app.
  • You can't do DSF on the app. You have to push the profile to the watch and then do DSF on the watch.
    • What happens if I make a modification to velocity in the app and push it? I'm guessing it will overwrite any DSF you've configured on the watch. I use DSF for the rimfire matches.
    • One thing I love about the watch vs Kestrel is the ability to input more distances for DSF. I basically put in every 10 yards from 60 - 100.

Correct, it's a one way street at this time. If you send a profile with the same name it will overwrite on the watch. If you change the name it won't.

I started playing around with it today. I noticed that the twist rate transfers over as a negative number, so for example I put in 8 for a 1:8 twist barrel, it shows on the watch as a -8. I'm not sure if that matters since we have mv, but thought it's worth mentioning. I also noticed there isn't a way to put in negative numbers for zero height and zero offset. Only lets me enter positive numbers. Does anyone know how to do that, or is it a limitation in the current release?

The Twist Rate sign value is indicated by the label above the Twist Rate input - "r" is a positive value, "l" is a negative value. Tapping on the label will switch this value. We're working on a way to make this more obvious.

As for the negative values for zero height and zero offset, that fix is in a pending update.

Out of curiosity or lack of knowledge, is there a reason to input barrel twist as a negative number? I'd assume twist rate wouldn't even matter as a data point if we have mv and bullet weight. So I guess for an example, why would a 1:7 twist barrel vs a 1:8 twist barrel vs a negative 1:8 twist barrel (which I don't think is possible) all shooting a 140gn bullet at 2700 fps mv change the ballistics?

Left twist vs right twist

Just got things today. A couple questions in general.
How can one delete profiles from the app of they accidentally added 4 new blank profiles?
Separate from the app, anyone have a run down on how to use TerrapinX to update range on watch?
Also anyone found any good watch faces they like?

Swipe from right to left on the profile name and it will give you the option to delete.

Are you going to make this software available for the Garmin Marq series? I have the Commander and would like to use this.

Garmin instead of coming out with more products how about fixing the ones you have. My Tactix delta with ab will not pair with my sig sauer kilo3000 bdx bino's. Garmin did send me a new watch and no fix. The Garmin techs don't even know what their selling no help.

So I just picked up a Tactix 7 Pro Ballistic watch last week. Its unclear to me how to get the AB Synapse "App" which is installed on my Android phone to "See" my watch. When I open the App I see the red Bluetooth icon at the top to Connect to the Tactix but upon opening it shows an empty screen for Select Device.

Do I need to disconnect the Garmin Connect App which is also installed on the phone before this AB Synapse App will connect?

Thanks

Have you setup the connect app yet to the watch? I think I did that first.

I filled this first I think…

Hello, Thanks for your reply.

Yes I have the connect app already configured on the phone and it can talk to the watch no problem and vise versa.

Its just the Synapse App that isn't seeing the watch. I have all the latest updates/versions installed on both the App and Watch.

But...maybe I'll just try and re-pair them because the Synapse App wasn't yet installed on my phone the first time I did the pairing process.

Of course sorry that didn’t help. Not sure if pressing the watch button top left and where mine says connected helps. Sorry

Unfortunately it appears that mine looks a bit different currently. I'll mess with trying to rejoin the BT on the watch to the phone now that I have the Synapse App installed. Maybe it will see both programs this time.

Below is what my App currently shows. Clicking the "Connect" button shows an empty list. Software Build on my phone reports version: 024, Phone: Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G

Sorry… not sure if it’s an Apple vs android thing. I’ll keep digging and see if I find out how I did it.

@.300Wins Have you had any luck getting this working?

Does anyone know how we add custom bullets or bullets that are not in the library to the library?
You can't add bullets to the library directly, but you can create a profile that uses a custom bullet by entering the Bullet Properties in the profile when you edit it. Instead of selecting the library, just directly enter BC, Drag Curve, Bullet Weight, Bullet Diameter and Bullet length.

Is there any way to rename it though? It stays named whatever the original bullet was when you add profile? Or maybe I am missing something? I can click the plus when I am on my 300WSM profile and add a .308 cal bullet but it defaults to 175 sierra. I can customize it but it stays named 175 sierra?

Don't go into the bullet library at all. Just edit the properties below it. If you do that, you're not saving that bullet anywhere to use later, it's not in the library so there is nowhere to have a name.

I have the exact same problem, have some one figured out what is going on?

Can I pair a Weatherflow windmeter with my garmin tactix delta AB/ AB synapse? If so how?

Hello,
I just bought the new garmin instict 2x tactical, and I want to get the Applied Ballistics going, and there is some thing I don’t understand. When I open the ABsynapse APP , it wants me to purchase some sort of a license to use it. The problem is that this license costs 300$ to use the app and the Official Applied Ballistics app costs 30$ in my country. And now I don’t know what to do. Can someone help me.
Thanks!
