For those who ride, and my have been to Deals Gap, and for those who have not:

About 10 or 11 yrs ago I used to live and ride in east TN and was active on a local MC BB. One day someone posted a close up shot of a chunk of fairing in the tree with the words "don't follow the Repsol" painted on it. We all got a pretty good laugh out of that because a former racer, who worked at and was trying to become the owner of the motel at the Gap, (meaning he rode up there every day) rode a Repsol. The moral was that following a knee dragging local at the gap may not be the best plan.

Found it: Windscreen on the right side

My God that place has changed between my first trip 15 years ago and my last trip 7 years ago and now. Remarkably commercialized strip of blacktop. on the first trip, the gas station had 2 pumps and only a couple of T-shirts and 2 bikes in the lot. The second trip the gas station was a circus and the lot was full. On a Tuesday. I would not think about getting near there now. Not too far away is the Cherohala skyway. a beautiful road to nowhere and had no one on it. Great turns too but only fun at 2x the speed limit.

A local news story the other day was about an 18 year old that crossed the center line and hit another bike Head on. They went on and on about the kid and his love of riding that road and how great a rider he was. My first thought was.... I am glad I don't go near that shit show. Second thought.... Maybe they should ask the guy that he hit about this 18 year olds ability. Third thought.... WTF happened to the guy that he hit? They never said!!
Two years ago a guy and his friend came down from up north somewhere. One ran into the back of the other one in a curve. Off road and down 50 feet or so they went. The guy in front died on impact with the bottom. The second lived for several days and was found. They went on and on about his final recording to his family (before his cell battery died) and several other messages he left. They called him a hero for surviving. Ummmm, he killed his friend! No mention of him recognizing that he caused the situation because he lacks the skills to deal with the roads or him killing his friend.

There's enough risk to riding to add in these shit stains that think that the road is a race track and they own it.

Just cut a ingrown toenail out, talk about motivating. Shit always feels better after.

I get them bad thanks to my old doc fucking up cutting my toenail off.

Been there. Used to get them a ton in high school and college from track&field. Finally had a doctor cut my big toe-nails completely out. She did it right, they grew back just fine, and I’ve never had another since.

TWELVE COMMANDMENTS FOR SENIORS

#1 - Talk to yourself. There are times you need expert advice.
#2 - “In Style” are the clothes that still fit.
#3 - You don't need anger management. You need people to stop pissing you off.
#4 - Your people skills are just fine. It's your tolerance for idiots that needs work.
#5 - The biggest lie you tell yourself is, “I don't need to write that down. I'll remember it.”
#6 - “On time” is when you get there.
#7 - Even duct tape can't fix stupid, but it sure does muffle the sound.
#8 - It would be wonderful if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes, then come out wrinkle-free and three sizes
smaller?
#9 - Lately, you've noticed people your age are so much older than you.
#10 - Growing old should have taken longer.
#11 - Aging has slowed you down, but it hasn't shut you up.
#12 - You still haven't learned to act your age and hope you never will.
. . . And one more:
“One for the road” means peeing before you leave the house
