I posted as a new member in Washington state, but it was suggested I include my "snowbird plans" to help me find people and places to try out this new to me sport. We will be spending the winter months in Phoenix (we live full time in our motorhome). I looked at the Ben Avery facility, but the 1000 yd range doesn't appear to be available except to group events. Anyway, just looking on suggestions on where to go to try and gain dope on my new rifle when I get down there, or suggestions on how to meet with others to suck up all the knowledge I can get. My RV resort will be in North Phoenix off of 17 if that helps.

You can become a member at Cowtown Range and have the freedom to shoot steel targets at 200 to 1000 yards spread out in the desert hills just south of Lake Pleasant, and near Ben Avery. I heard Ben Avery now has a range with steel out to 600 yards or so, but have not verified. Monthly PRS match at Cowtown and Rio Salado Gun Club in east Mesa. Pm me if you have any questions or need more info.

I would use Google maps to start looking for places. If you have a tow behind SUV life would be easier. I'm down south east of the state.
