Took a good friend out a couple days ago to try and fill his general tag. Glassed this guy up at 2 miles with several other bulls and cows. After a straight up 2 mile death march we closed the distance to 300yds.
Got a couple of backcountry Idaho Elk down. 5x5 on opening day and a spike the next day. Hiked in ~8.5 miles to camp. Both of us had 300 win mags and both shots were around 280 yards.
That a a long ways to pack meat out. Hope u someone with horses to get u out
Yeah, we have a buddy with horses that came and got us. Had to climb up quite a ways to get cell service though
Fun morning bowhunting. Coyote was quartering away, not gutshot. 
Nice shooting, but where in the world do u have green grass this time of year

Another ground hog from this past weekend. That makes 5 off of this one farm, and I know of 4 more still kicking. 
Well…deer down? Not really the kind of success we were looking for.
Headed for a MT Muley hunt, my buddy absolutely annihilated this doe with his F350. Cracked radiator, waiting on a tow. Glad we switched drivers, it would have been me driving 5 minutes prior.

Doubled up on muleys with a buddy last night. Also shot grouse number 5-6 with the p320

I wish our Roosevelt's got as big as those Rockey Mountain Elk, but our local stock just grow brush racks. That 5x4 was around 400 lbs hanging.

My first Elk. We saw a few better ones but this guy came in at 70 yards with about 30 cows. I got exited and took the shot. I hit him with a 200 grain ELDX going 3100. The bullet only took out the first lung. It completely fragged on impact and only got about 10” of penetration

That must have made a mess in the chest cavity. I shot mine with a 200gr federal terminal accent. I was surprised it was caught in the off side hide. Mine hit a rib on both sides though. I almost switched to the eldx for this year.
Haven't recovered one yet. Impact velocity on the elk was around 2600fps it absolutely destroyed the chest cavity and exited through the shoulder she was on her feet for about 2 seconds
The mule deer took a shot hard quartering in at the last rib out between the shoulder and neck.....heart lungs liver he did a backflip and landed on his head. Impact was probably over 3250fps

I will take a different bullet next time. I like the look of your recovered bullet. I think the ELDX performs better at a lower velocity

Two nice eating sows. 6.5 CM at 215m. Out for youth deer with son when this sounder came out. Been a long time since I’ve shot pigs in the daytime.
Juvenile opened today in Tennessee. My 10 year old's 4th deer. 243 Win with handloaded 90 grain gamechanger. Really liking these bullets in 6mm and 6.5mm so far.
So what started as a rough week (post #121) ended well. Four guys, three Montana Non-Resident General Deer tags, one Montana Non-Resident Antelope tag. Not one of us ended the week eating tag soup. All public land hunting, and one very nice gentleman who gave permission for us to access a landlocked BLM section through his property. That secluded BLM section happened to be where two of us, including me, filled our tags. A local auto shop even managed to get my buddy’s truck fixed (enough) in time for the 18 hour drive home. A great week despite some ups and downs.

Oklahoma muzzleloader season and I'm out with my smokeless. Had a tiny one pop up and thought what the hell. I've never seen a deer actually knocked off it's feet before. That 300 grain bullet at 2900 fps does a number. Took the far side shoulder off. Not a ton salvageable, but it's going to make some good bacon. No pics, but a person could fit their head in the exit wound.

Depends who else is in range. I’ve been on public land in WI that I would have liked an APC to get through the line of flatlanders 100 yards from their vehicles.
I like to color match my photo editing.
That was actually an issue out in MT too. First day out we got onto a herd and were making a plan to get closer and shift our angle. Noticed the deer started paying attention upwind (into private property, general direction of a residence…downrange, which was the reason we were planning and not shooting). I noticed a little blaze orange dot pop over a ridge on that private land and we almost immediately heard a shot. He was easily inside 250 yards, and 100% missed. They all spooked, jumping the fence onto his private land. He was easily shooting within a 5-10° angle of us. I was pissed. We all backed off the hill and heard a few more shots. Not sure he ever even noticed we were there.
Pretty decent for flatland NC. These two youngins love eating “big buck.” There was a time they’d pass up a steak for venison. 120 yards with a 168 TMK. He never even twitched. I think the bullet blew up on a bean stalk before impact. Anyone hunt with TMKs?
