My father in law got a new Savage 93 17hmr so took him out after some coons. Slow morning but the last two trees produced. Shot mine with my 15-2.

Little Forked spike walked by my stand about ten minutes before sunset on the first day of Veteran’s/Youth hunt. Let two others walk later in the week, one, a doe kept looking back like Mr. Big was coming up behind her, the second turned broadside just moments before legal shooting ended. Had a shot (sort of) but not being totally sure of the shot, let it pass (too dark to determine if it was a doe or a small buck, but I thought it was a doe) Legal in Louisiana but If I can’t totally identify my target or the critter won’t present a decent shot, I’m not shooting.

nice call esp given the girl that was recently shot by her father (sounds like bad gun handling vs wrong target, but still...)

I am trying out the 175 eld-x in my 280ai. How was the terminal ballistics on this one? How was the exit?
Look up a few posts above, posted the exit hole.

I believe if you're close, it will explode. When I was hunting, I saw a 300 win with the 200 gr or 212 gr ( I cant remember what he was using) blow a missive hole on impact at close range. Dead is dead, and it was a goat so not a tough animal, but there wasn't any penetration.

Shot this doe at 400 yards on my last evening whitetail hunting. 300 win mag with 180 sst doing 3030. Hit her high shoulder and she dropped like she got struck by lightning. I had to get creative with the shooting position too due to the height of the grass.

Pretty good 9pt. Probably the biggest bodied deer I've ever shot. Didn't weigh, but had to go 200lbs dressed.
Northern middle TN.
Came out of a thicket behind me fighting off two smaller bucks while chasing a doe. Pretty cool.
Shot him right around 100 yards away. He ran about 50.
Ruger #1 7x57 w/Nikon Monarch 2-7x32, 175 Sierra Game King over 49.0RL-22 for 2,500fps.
Behind the shoulder. Trashed both ribcages and made soup out of the middle. Hide caught the bullet on the far side.

North Robertson Co.
A little East of Dover/Stewart Co. There used to be some really big deer out of that country! Always wanted to hunt over there myself…..

Robertson holds the world record non-typical. And there fat on corn instead of acorns. He’s was a beast, super nice harvest.

during the Kansas rifle season. Shot two doe the first weekend, a buck Friday the 10th, and a doe Saturday morning the 11th. The first doe was a 100 yard chip shot quarting towards me, she went 30 yards. Second doe was right at the end of legal shooting time at 399 yards, hit her high shoulder and she dropped in her tracks. Got out Friday about an hour before dark, was about to shoot another doe for a disabled friend, but she kept looking back and this buck came out. 173 yards with a 25 mph cross wind, hit him a little forward, but he didn't take a step. Frosty the next morning, but way less wind. Had 8 doe come in downwind, shot one of the bigger ones at 180 yards quartering towards me. The entry looks like an exit, found a couple pieces of meat at the point of impact, and she went about 50 yards with a broken shoulder. Shot all of these standing in about a 10' area. Going to use the cape from this buck for the 170"+ buck I shot last year. My son went out Sunday morning and shot another doe from the same spot with his 270 Tikka T3 Lite. The 129 gr American Whitetail destroyed her heart and lungs and she never took a step.

80 yards, 300BO with a REAP-IR 60mm. Shot 20 minutes apart on same stand. 240 and 150 lbs. t was a good night.

@260284 details on the rifle and stock, if you don't mind.
It was a Tikka CTR 20" 260 Remington. After about 3500 rounds I got a 24" medium palma Bartlein in 6.5 Creemoor from Greg at Southern Precision Rifles and his first Tikka BugNut. I ended up building a dedicated match rifle, so I cut this one down to 18" for a handier suppressed hunting rifle. It shoots faster than a factory 20" CTR barrel that I had for awhile. The stock is a German Gun Stock Ranger that I added a Salmon River Solutions ARCA/Pic to. https://www.salmonriversolutions.com/product/srs-arca-pic/

I have also used their Reaper stock that I added an AREA 419 14" ARCA rail to. I currently have a 28" 6.5 Creedmoor in it with CTR bottom metal for a NRL Hunter match in Oklahoma in February. It is pictured with my 18" CTR in it. They are really well built stocks with an aluminum mini-chassis that runs the length of the action with a stainless recoil lug in it. I can swap rifles between stocks and not have to re-zero. I have their Raptor that I put my 223 Varmint in for a couple of team matches with my son. I had a Predator, but I sold it. They recently came out with a Veloci-Raptor and an Outlaw model that are more match oriented designs. They have options for an adjustable butt that adjusts for height and length. They also have m-lok rails on the bottom and sides in those two. I have been trying to get Thomas to build a match style stock, made a few suggestions, even suggested the Veloci-RAPTOR name, so I was pretty excited when they rolled these out. https://international.german-gun-shop.de/en/stocks-chassis-9/veloci-raptor.html
