I'm curious to know how to know if a USMC Sniper Unertl is the real deal and an approximate value. I may be interested in purchasing it from the owner. I know we have a resident expert that can likely tell me the history of this particular scope.

Not an expert on those... but it sure looks right from where I sit!

What are you going to put it on?

I've got a spare Savage in 6.5 CM that needs a scope. You never know....
Actually I have no idea. Just like the looks of the scope and mil-dot reticle and was looking for a spare scope to keep handy. Looks like a NF would be cheaper.

If you are not really into cloning a rifle and just want a shooter there are better options....more user friendly.

Its a fantastic scope for 1979 and issue to cro-magnons that were eating boogers at that time not having elevated to crayons.

You zero and set parallax at 300 yards and the BDC elevation is specific to the issue round of the 80s to early 90s. You need to be a magical conjurer to set the gross elevation and than you need to know if you have to either add or subtract fine elevation to get on target.

Those booger eaters were smart and deadly.

    Thats some of the negative.

The positive is its a baseball bat of a survivor scope and if you shoot FGMM 308 the BDC works good enough.

They also change colors like a chameleon to match their surroundings....
