Neck sized Winchester brass and the load is neither highly compressed nor bullets barely seated. COAL is 2.776 with the Hornady 105 BTHP Match. They are slightly compressed but you can still hear the powder shifting when shaking the round. Velocities have been confirmed by shooting out to 800 yards.
CBM the only thing I can figure is that it didn't actually hit the skull but ran right under it and came out in the skull/spine junction. The first one was a side profile with entry between the eye and ear.
Here's 3 I've killed since rifle deer season started. All of em were between 290 & 310 yards and were shot with my 25/300WSM. This one took a 115 Berger a little low. These 2 each got an 85 Ballistic Tip.
I'd pick the 7STW first, if it will shoot 162-175gr bullets good. I've got a buddy that has killed 10+ deer at between 525 and 820 yards with his STW shooting 140gr Accubonds. I'd shoot a heavier bullet if it was mine but it's hard to argue with his results.
