I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the tap subject. And I have done barrels on actions that have not been trued up and many that have been trued, and I can not really prove if one is better or not,but I do in my own mind think it cant hurt to true things up. And like it has been said...
I agree with this statement. If the face of the action and the barrel shoulder are both cut 90 degree's to the bolt bore race way, then that is what gets things line up straight any way. The threads are just to hold it together. But the threads are still not lined up with every thing when they...
A .010" over sized tap will not correct the miss alignment of the threads in a action in relationship to the bolt bore race way. A single point tool must be used to correct a out of round or angled hole. And this includes the threads in a action. I know this might start a pissing contest but it...
I agree 100% with JJones75 there is nothing wrong with your fixture but it is to long to do what you are trying to do with it. All you need to do is run the chamber end on a live center. Make sure you cut a good 60 degree center in the end of the bore after you get your barrel dialed in before...
Re: Remington 700 bolt replacement PT&G fluted I would not remove any material from the rear of the lugs on the bolt, it will affect the way the extraction cam works on your new bolt. Their are better ways to do the job as has been posted allready.
Re: Need a gas port opened up, recommend smith please. You could put the barrel in a vise to hold it,then put a cleaning rod or a alluminum rod that is close to the bore size in the barrel and leave it in the barrel while you ream out the hole.To ream the hole use a small hand held tap holder...
Re: release agent for bedding? Take a look at www.mclube.com. Looks like it might work.I have always used Brownells release with good results. But it is getting a little pricey.I think I might give Mc lube a try.
Re: Grizzly or Bad Boys Blasters blast cabinet? I dont know about the two that you posted, but I have a TRINCO sold by MSC/J-L and it is one of the best on the market. It has very good lighting and a good dust colector and both are very important when you are blasting. Most blasters that I...
Re: PTG"s customer service is awesome! I have been buying reamers and other tooling from PTG for 12 years. There service has always been great for my little shop. There service has been a little slow the last few months. We are all very lucky to have a great company that does so much for us in...
