I'm just getting into competitive shooting myself. There's a centerfire match tomorrow in Pleasant Hill (below Selma) that I'll probably be going to and watching. If you shoot rimfire, there's a match every month at Brock's Gap in Hoover. I hope to be shooting in that one in a couple of months.
I live in Alabama so we definitely have some heat to deal with. It'll be on a 22lr so I'll only be taking it out to 300 yards or so. Would I have mirage issues with it being just 300 yard shots?
I've read that as well about the 16x and 20x. This will be primarily a bench rest gun so I don't think that the tighter eyebox will be that much of an issue for me. I wish SFWA sold their optics locally so I could pick them all up and look through them to make my decision.
