I carry a full size Colt XSE 1911 in a Bianchi model 120 at the 4 o clock position. I'm 6' and 130lbs. Yeah it's a big, heavy pistol but I can still conceal it well. People like to suggest other things like Glock for CCW, but I'm comfortable with the 1911. I'm aware of the advantages and...
24 this year. Killing gallon water jugs out in the desert. Got to learn how much the wind affected a .308 out that far. Had to hold almost to the edge of the reticle! Desert winds can be fierce.
I've been waiting for this to come along. I'm looking at this for 1000 yards for my .308 Remington since I never really used over 15x anyways with my 25x scope.
Re: Cleaning and accuracy fall-off I run an oiled patch through my .308 Remington to keep the bore from rusting. It gets such little fowling that pretty much gets it clean. They come out very light gray. The rifles I use corrosive ammo in always get a thorough cleaning.
Re: 175 SMK out of Rem 700 SPS Varmint I used them for a while in my SPS Varmint before switching to the the Hornady 178s but they perform the same. Always got great results. I've been using 44.4gr of Varget and Win cases loaded to magazine length. I've taken the Hornadys out to 700, 800 and...
Re: how much scope is needed for 2 to 500 target work I was shooting targets at 700 and 1025 yards yesterday and I have a 5.5-25x50 scope but didn't really go over 8-10 magnification. The lower magnification meant less mirage and helped me get back on the target quicker so I could see the...
Re: Build your own sniper rifle Sniper was originally a civilian term used by people that were skilled at hunting a tricky bird called a snipe. Never see this brought up very much in arguments about who can use the term.
Re: cant make up my mind glock or 1911 I went with 1911s. Started with a Springfield GI as my first 1911 and did a few upgrade like a Wilson barrel and ejector and better sights. It had a jam issue because the firing pin block was allowing the extractor to rotate and ejection was everywhere...
Re: Remington Throats Mine has a long throat like that too but I loaded the SMKs to mag length and it has always shot very good 5 shot groups at 100 yards. I never get over MOA unless it's me screwing up. I recently switched to the 178gr A-Max which has to be set deeper because of the tip and...
Re: remington 700 factory accuracy I bought an SPS Varmint that would shoot sub 1" groups even with the crappy stock it came withand factory ammo. I dropped it in a HS Precision stock and it will always shoot sub 1" 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Typically around 1/2-3/4" with reloads, but if it...
