First Look ?- Cronus Tactical Spotting Scope by Athlon Optics

First Look ?- Cronus Tactical Spotting Scope by Athlon Optics

The Bushnell version was 8-40 and could be had w/o reticle. The Cronus is 1.2" longer which is no big whoop, but I still do not understand the same old 30mm ER. You're giving up FOV & who needs 30mm ER anyway if you do not require corrective lens? 37.14 oz for the LMSS Vs. 46.6 is substantial...

Rifle Scopes Is this a good deal from SWFA? Never bought from the Samplelist

Title: Never bought from the Samplelist Gleaned from a 'sample list' search I ran across this thread. They say curiousity killed the cat, yet this stuck out as a mite odd. If never a previous purchase how did you ascertain typical SWFA fashion?

Rifle Scopes Fare thee well S-Tac 2.5-17.5x56 I hardly knew ye

What I find novel is tailoring/scaling the reticle to one round/boolit/load. I find the Leatherwood ART especially quaint. You do not wish to learn 'more' though if you should perhaps a Google machine from Santa is in your future. 'He's back'. Were I you I'd refrain from playin' me hunches...

Rifle Scopes Fare thee well S-Tac 2.5-17.5x56 I hardly knew ye

QF takes a novel approach. Regardless of, "High quality Germany glass" I didn't notice any FOV figures.

Rifle Scopes Starting a new review series

I've been snooping around Sightron catalogues & notice that the new 27008 ED SV 10-50x60 is claimed to be 0.4" shorter though 0.9oz heavier than the non-ED version 27000/27001. Do you feel that increase is directly proportional to the ED glass? I'm not sure where the 0.4" where taken off or if...

Rifle Scopes Fare thee well S-Tac 2.5-17.5x56 I hardly knew ye

Larger glass, all other things being equal, will resolve more than smaller diameter at penalty you mentioned of weight. Everything is a compromise und as the colloquials say, "There ain't no free lunch". ED glass is primarily employed to reduce chromatic aberration which is much more...

    Rifle Scopes Sightron S-TAC 2.5-17.5X56 IR4A Reticle 26009

That reticle would appeal to more than ye auld #4. A 4.5-24X56 would also fit the bill a mite better for the long ranger. For me w/#4 Sightron could've could have used a 1" tube w/less adjustment. Not that I'm complaining I'm just sayin' for short-mid range that would've been fine & dandy...

    Rifle Scopes Sightron S-TAC 2.5-17.5X56 IR4A Reticle 26009

I love the German #4 reticle, so I'm sure I'll be a happy camper. Plus, the big claim to fame of ED is reduction of chromatic aberration. This time of year that's easy to check. At times it's hard to quantify a better view, but CA is easy to judge. Going hand in hand if CA is suppressed then the...
