http://www.rigidalloy.com/ Watch for the blemished ones to go on sale. I picked up 2 pretty cheap this winter. They didn't have any noticeable issues. A little paint and you aren't breaking the bank.
DP425, just back up to my first replies to this post. Long story short, after sending my upper back it now works well. Not trying to scare you I just haven't had much luck getting any feed back on these.
Hope you don't have wait long, interested to hear how you like it. Was just in SD to test mine on pdogs after getting it fixed. Trip was a wash out didn't fire a round of 17hmr. Have a swift 4x12 and Burris mount on mine for now, not bad.
Assuming that is long eye relief scope you could mount something like this: BKL-554 - Dovetail to Weaver Adaptor Mounts - BKLTech.com extended part facing forward maybe would work. If you have the capability you could buy a longer rail and make your own. 94/22 should have a dovetail...
Nice rig cookie... Dfoosking, I've been wondering if the tacsol's were any good. My understanding is marvel is the best. Been thinking about one for 1911 that I started long time ago but never finished.
Got 2 boys that got savage .22's for their first rifle, now I'm getting started with my duaghter. Only trouble is that ammo supply shrinks fast! Enjoy shooting with your son.

Sorry Twisted, for the repeated replies, what meant about a target he can hit was a reactive target of some kind that when he hits it he knows it, thats more exciting for kids than shooting paper. If he's been shooting for a while you probably have figured that out already, good luck.
Definitly teach the irons sights if you have them. Also, I think with kids learning to shoot it helps keep their interest to use a range and target that they can hit while you teach the fundamentals. Punching paper is not always that exciting to a young kid.
^^I agree, depends on the skill level, sight in for a range that he will hit targets consistantly and increase the range as skill level increases. I sight in all my rimfires at 50 yds (including the kids) for some I have recorded zeros for 100yds etc..
Good story reewik, nothing better than shootin' with the kids. Got 2 with their own savage .22's now just getting the 3rd started (she's 10), it's amazing how well kids can shoot with a little practice. I've found the more reactive the targets are(stuff that moves, makes noise, blows up...
