new machine looks good! we've had great luck with Leadwell CNC's. there are many to choose from no, i THINK a micron is 1/100,000"? someone help me out here. our machine shop only deals down to .0001" or "tenths"
like anything else, there are many ways to do it. i bed front and back at the same time. some prep work can let you know what you need. tighten the front of the base only and see if that raises the back of the action, repeat for the back screws. then you know if you need to only tighten one end...
many good ring makers, seekins, tps, aadland etc rings are important, but i think what the rings attach to, and what scope gets put in them is more important than what brand the rings are
Re: Need precise measurement ... engineers, techs help as was mentioned: tighten the adjuster screws. i've seen $200+ calipers being off by .003" just because they weren't adjusted. that said, calipers are really only good for +/- .001" you need micrometers to be very precise
Re: Need to pick you guy's brains? i doubt threading the barrel and action will help. a higher quality barrel with good ammo will be your best bet to better groups. a good trigger and good shooter don't hurt either
