Yes your probably right I havent done the maths, the loads I was using were both very light loads as I wanted not only to break the barrel in but also see if there was much unburnt powder coming out the end of the barrel.
Loads I used were reloader 25 86grns and H1000...

I first got the idea about the 20in barrel after I bought my Barrett 98b which had the 27in barrel.
So when I decided on getting the AX I got Graeme Clarke at Sporting Services the UK dealer on the performance of the AX with a 20in barrel.
Graeme came back and informed me...

I thought that but no you can just see the flame on the sides of the muzzle brake but none out of the end of the barrel.
The handling of it with the short barrel is great

Guys I shot it today at Warcop MOD Ranges here in the UK. Took it out to 900 yds after I broke the barrel in. Bouncing rounds off old APCs
Really nice bit of kit. I got it with the folding stock, tac muzzle brake and rear mono pod.
Very surprised how nice it was too shoot...
Guys just picked up a new AI AX338 Lapua. I got mine with a 20in barrel which looks quite cool. Im informed that the UK MOD are currently trialling these rifles fitted with the 20in barrel and getting some good results.
My previous 2 338 rifles were the German DSR1 and earlier this year I sold...

Guys you have to look at the German DSR1 338 its a bull pup rifle with a 1 in 10 twist barrel its used by GSG9 CTW. I have 3 AIs and a DSR comes with a bench rest barrel as standard. I was shooting it today at 1500yds what a bit of kit.
