    Muzzle brake difference!

A buddy of mine has the same gun as me. Remington 700 SPS .300 Win. Mag. The only difference between the two is mine is stainless. The recoil is very pronounced. I decided to buy a clamp on brake for mine. What a world of difference! It's one thing to shoot a rifle then have a brake installed...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Springfield Mil-Spec sight cut question

I have an old Springfield Mil-Spec from the 80's and wanted to upgrade the rear sights with an adjustable set but I don't know what type of dovetail is cut in the slide for the non-adjustable rear sight that is on there now. It has a pinned front sight. Also, what rear sights would you recommend...

.308 rem vtr, 165gr sst, varget - anyone got any data?

I shoot a 700 VTR in .308. One of the ones that love it. I use 45 grains of Varget in Remington cases, with Hornady match 168 gr. bullets. Loaded to an OAL of 2.810. I do have it mounted in a B&C A2 stock. I did work up to that load. Good luck, Joe

Hand Loading for Precision Rifle (Pic Heavy)

I've been reloading for my hunting guns for years, looking into precision loading. This is one great article. The write up and pictures are first class. I guess I have to rewrite that Christmas list. Joe

I just reloaded 300 rounds of .357 with standard small pistol primers (Winchester) and had no problems out of three different revolvers. Used 4227 IMR powder. Joe

I need a name for a rifle action company. Help me and win.

Good morning, Thank you for calling Old Forge (Old Forge Precision). Yes sir, all of our rifles start with our legendary receiver, The Anvil. Tooled from one piece of billet steel and made sledgehammer tough. If you would like, we can add a barrel to a short action Anvil, it's our Lighting Rod...

    Shiny Brass

Sentry1, your brass should be clean on the outside so as to not scratch your dies or dent your brass. I was looking to make mine pretty after they go through the dies. Joe

    Rifle Scopes Swfa ss 12x42

I was looking at a Millett to put on top of a .308 VTR that I have. Long story short, I when with the SWFA SS 20X42 fixed power scope. A little back ground on my type of shooting. I hunt the killer paper target. That's it. The longest that I shoot is 200 yards. I just can't find a longer range...

    Bipod or bag rest differences

Roggom what you say makes sense. Both guns are shot off of a bench and I know I'm not getting the same tension on the bipod each time. I'll have to try both from a mat. Thanks, Joe

    Bipod or bag rest differences

I may be wrong but I've noticed that different guns like different rests. I attached a bipod on a 24" full floating, heavy bull barreled AR and it shot "ok". folded the bipod and shot the gun off of a bag and the groups got tighter. A 700 Remington that I shoot is completely different. It shoots...
