I'm currently having a Rem 700 16.5" 308 built for shooting subs also and have bought a Bushnell Tactical 3-12x44 G2DMR. I also looked at the scopes that you mentioned. Actually it was between the SWFA 3-15, Weaver Tactical 3-15, and the one I ended up buying. I ended up buying the Bushnell...

I also wanted to know the differences between the 2 cartridges. As someone that would truly use this as a hunting caliber in a rifle that would probably not be shot more than 1,000 rounds in it's life, barrel life won't matter. What would matter to me is which round will be commercially loaded...

I'm currently building something similar and have been looking at the Bushnell Elite 3-12x44 G2DMR. Around the price range you set. Let me know what you think.

Just finished up lurking around on RSR and it is listed in their catalog already: Bushnell Elite 3-12x44 G2HLRHS. Of course they don't have any in stock or I would have my own pics to share.

Please list details of your rifle and scope and what loads you are using. Your son is lucky to be starting out with such a nice rifle.

This is exactly the kind of info I was hoping to get by starting this thread. When I first saw it on the 6.5 SAUM thread, I thought it might be close to the 3-12 G2DMR scope that Bushnell already makes, but now the differences are apparent and significant. Thanks for all of the input.
