I'm currently having a Rem 700 16.5" 308 built for shooting subs also and have bought a Bushnell Tactical 3-12x44 G2DMR. I also looked at the scopes that you mentioned. Actually it was between the SWFA 3-15, Weaver Tactical 3-15, and the one I ended up buying. I ended up buying the Bushnell...
I also wanted to know the differences between the 2 cartridges. As someone that would truly use this as a hunting caliber in a rifle that would probably not be shot more than 1,000 rounds in it's life, barrel life won't matter. What would matter to me is which round will be commercially loaded...
I'm currently building something similar and have been looking at the Bushnell Elite 3-12x44 G2DMR. Around the price range you set. Let me know what you think.

I know that nothing is official yet, but would love to know when it is expected to be released to the public and any other specs that might have been leaked.
Just wondering if you found a good one in Cenla, I live here also and am having the same problem. Tommie in Woodworth won't do any barrel work anymore and this is really frustrating because he does really nice work.
So much internal conflict, instant gratification versus waiting on what I really want. I think you just nailed it, just had to hear it. No sense in buying a rifle that I am not content with when I am willing to spend more than $800 on a factory rifle. I do have other rifles to suffice my...
