    Always a possibility, but I'm thinking 308 would fly off the shelf faster. More of a mainstream cartridge, IMO.

    The index pin. If you shear the index pin while torquing the barrel nut, either you're applying too much torque or the index pin was a flawed part to begin with. Likely both.

    Ought to work if the barrel is concentric around the bore, or close enough to true it up. Thread enough for a jam nut since there won't be much of a shoulder. And make sure he understands that it may not be pretty. Get it in writing.
