    6.5x47 trim length question

Re: 6.5x47 trim length question I have used a couple 'trim to length' variations for other calibers. For the Swift Imp. it is: measure all the brass and trim to the shortest pieces length. This cartridge does not grow much compared to the 220 Swift. For the Swift it is cut .010" from...

    Hunting & Fishing Black Bear...Lapua'ed..

Re: Black Bear...Lapua'ed.. Glad to see you took the 'light weight' mountain rifle! How many pine cones, turkeys, etc. you knock out of the trees when you cut loose with that thing??? That concussion must be fierce! Good job!! Lots of fun carting it out, no doubt. Hopefully no flooding...

    6.5x47 Lapua,primer pocket depth

Just finished measuring the depth of the primer pockets in 25 pcs of new, unfired, 6.5x47 Lapua brass. the deepest is .1263(2)and the shallowest is .1218 (1). Measured some once fired factory and got .126 - .122 depth, the same with 6x fired pcs. I was thinking that the Lapua cartridge...

    Oehler 35P replacement rail

I have been using my Oehler chronograph for a few years now and one thing that has really bothered me is the round rail made out of conduit, and how the sensors attach to this rail. Wind kept acting on the sensors and moving the whole assy, plus I was looking for a faster setup time. SH member...

    Rifle Scopes Turret Check

Re: Turret Check A nice simple fix for checking elevation and windage when leaving or setting up at a call stand. Nothing like having 2.5 mil elevation and then adding more at the next stop, or thinking knob is at zero, shooting at a close one! Have I gone to the range and found my settings...

    Tripod for chronograph?

Re: Tripod for chronograph? I used to use a Slik tripod I had with a Nikon spotting scope. Put it on top of a plastic storage box (for height) and run bungee cords to hold tripod to container so wind would not blow over (just add rocks, etc., to container). Plastic lock ring mech on tripod...

    7.65 ARG ???

Re: 7.65 ARG ??? Not a lot of kick in my sporterized version. Because of the 2 locking lugs it is not loaded to high pressures. I believe Nosler still makes loads for this cartridge. May want to slug the barrel to verify diameter for bullets when reloading. Brass is available, too...

    Oehler 35P Thoughts & Review

Re: Oehler 35P Thoughts & Review How many times do I have to run from the bench to the chrono for my initial set up??? Love that idea of a laser in the bore to be a guide at 35P setup! Less time = less frustration.

    Remington 700 magazine problems

Re: Remington 700 magazine problems Saw a couple of problems with the 700ADL blind magazine in a Rem. stock; do not know if it crosses over to a McMillan stock with ADL. The follower would bottom out before filling to capacity and the magazine spring had to be "adjusted" to get the angle on...

    Good news, Oehler 35P

Re: Good news, Oehler 35P Austan- Appreciate, again, the info provided!! Wish Photobucket still had the pics to access. A square or rectangular rail would speed set up, as I was reminded this weekend at the range (lots of mosquito's!!!). johndoe- look forward to viewing pics of your...

    Good news, Oehler 35P

Re: Good news, Oehler 35P Austan and johndoe- Thanks for passing on the info. regarding 6mmbr. Have been looking with the search function there. So far nothing, however will keep reading. Think I will also look for some rectangular aluminum tubing and see about finding someone to MIG or...

    Good news, Oehler 35P

Re: Good news, Oehler 35P Really nice to see the 35P is being offered again. Mine came in a box, not that nice looking rifle case!! My main complaint regarding the 35P is the rail for mounting. It used to be a piece of electrical conduit, with dimples to locate/clamp the sky screens. This...

    Range Report 220 SWIFT QUESTION

Re: 220 SWIFT QUESTION Will you be using the Swift to shoot coyotes?? Here in MT it's legal to shoot big game with the 22 centerfire. 60 Hdy sp works fine for deer and antelope; shot placement (accuracy) and not going for one in the next county. Bal Tip, Vmax work great on coyotes. A lot...
