    I agree on Arsenal. I own a SAM 7SF. Yes, she was pricy however I am pleased to report over 800 rounds of cheap steel cased ammo with ZERO malfunctions. Worth it to me since I did own a WASR 10 years back and it was pretty much junk. Just my 2 cents.

    Out of the ones you spoke of IMHO the Cold Steel Trail Master is your best bet. With a quarter inch thick spine and the grind you cannot go wrong. It's a wedge. The ESEE 6 is great also but it looks like you are leaning toward a 9" or greater blade since you mentioned batoning. I have...

    Make the purchase. I have several. They are outstanding knives that are built like tanks and can hold an edge. The sheaths, which a lot of companies skimp on IMO, are actually well put together too.
