    Out of curiosity, how do you know what Remington's spec is? I can promise, new, out of the box Rem 700s have come with the receiver peened at the trigger pins. The bolt part, no excuse for that.

    And for the record, that’s more peening, not really staking. All it’s doing is making the hole tighter. The pins will still drive in/out as normal.

    I couldn’t count how many staked trigger pins on factory Remington actions AND ‘high-end’ aftermarket actions I’ve seen come though here. Not something I’d lose sleep over.

    You need a brake for 1/2-28 threads.

    You don't have to, but you should as well as the ejector. You want to only feel the gauge, or not. You don't want input from anything else.

    It doesn't matter other than looks. You're never going to change enough by filing one dented thread to affect anything. You could file that entire start thread off and it's not going to change a thing.
