Gunsmithing smith for batch of 300BLK ar barrels

Most guys will probably shy away from having to contour 25 barrels. If they are already contoured, it shouldn't be too big of a deal to chamber them up and drill the gas port. Have you decided on the contour you are looking for and the gas port length / size (pistol / 0.067)?

    Gunsmithing Little DBM install action

I have two B&S dials I use regularly, they are silky smooth and always give a repeatable reading. I gave my digital Mitutoyo to my dad to use in his shop because it's slightly grainy feeling to me and I never quite trusted it. Wait a second, you CNC guys don't need to measure anything. Don't...

    Gunsmithing Beginners Mill/ Lathe

No license required for building your own personal firearms. Be careful with the word "registered", it is generally reserved for NFA items and does require a Form 1 to be filed with the NFA branch and approved before you can start construction (along with a $200 tax for each item). Individuals...

Gunsmithing Need a competent gunsmith that can finish a rebarrel on a POF 223

Last I checked, the lugs are machined into the barrel extension and not the barrel itself. I guess you could forgo the barrel extension all together and just machine it into the back of the barrel, but I have never seen it done this way. Killswitch has it correct above: fit barrel extension...

    Gunsmithing Need a certified gunsmith

Are you going to start with licensing, business plans, business structuring, financing, insurance, ATF inspections, how much 1 upset customer can cost vs hundreds of happy customers, ... oh wait. Let's just talk about machines / tooling and how you get filthy rich super quick as a gunsmith! ...

Gunsmithing Because who doesn't like a GoPro lathe video?

You CNC people disgust me... j/k. I almost picked up a nice used TL-1 last year, luckily for my wallet someone beat me to the punch. What was the beast you were running in your other video? For someone with a new toy, your changer sure was full!

I have a few of his tools, didn't even think to get them out for this!

Gunsmithing Because who doesn't like a GoPro lathe video?

All of my boring bars are solid carbide Iscar (some insert, some not. The one I cut the crown with in the video was an Iscar solid carbide mini bar... AMAZING quality) and I have a few Kenny holders that I love, I only order Shars brand holders when I can't find a nice Ebay deal on a USA holder...

Gunsmithing Because who doesn't like a GoPro lathe video?

This isn't my favorite tool because inserts are so hard to find. The finish isn't spectacular either because 200 rpm with coated carbide just doesn't cut it. I couldn't run a steady on the barrel without a collar, so I decided just to take it slow on the RPM and run a secondary clean up pass...

Gunsmithing Because who doesn't like a GoPro lathe video?

Neither, the camera is mounted on the tail stock looking down. What looks backwards?

Gunsmithing Because who doesn't like a GoPro lathe video?

As noted in the video, because of the massive recoil lug that is pressed and soldered to the barrel shank, I could not indicate the barrel between two gimbals through the headstock =) The rifle has been test fired 6 times, I had to fire 6 because the first 5 blew up my test silencers. Luckily...

Gunsmithing Because who doesn't like a GoPro lathe video?

Here is a barrel I threaded last night for a SilencerCo Sparrow. I set the GoPro up to test out a new suction cup mount... worked pretty well! Video has been sped up considerably. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBiBPp7cXf0

Gunsmithing Barrel screwed on action at an angle

Try sliding your bolt into the front raceway and see if it deflects strongly one way or the other. According to your square, you should be able to easily see the angular difference. If your bolt deflects, then most likely there is an offset between your raceway and receiver OD. If the bolt is...

Gunsmithing Anyone have a shot out NON tapered barrel sitting around collecting dust?

You should check out the green mountain gunsmith blanks. You would be hard pressed to even find 1.25" OD x 25" steel, let alone gun drilled and rifled for the $50 they charge. 300 Blackout Gunsmith Edition Raw Blank 25" x 1.25 - Green Mountain Rifle Barrel Co. On a side note, I have built...

    Gunsmithing 18" 300 wind mag

I cut a .300 Wby Mag barrel down from 26" to 20" for a family member so it wouldn't get hung up on trees as often while hunting. I cut a nice crown and threaded it for a silencer. It shoots better now than it did from the factory (most likely because of the new crown) and the can lessens any...
