.308 green tip

you want to penetrate armour with a projectile, it needs 4 things…. Mass, velocity hardness and length….

do yourself some research on “long rod” penetrators.

more mass = more penetration
more velocity = more penetration
more hardness = can penetrate harder armour
more length = helps penetrate deeper all else being equal

there was a US arme engineer way back when, who was doing research on projectiles penetrating armour…. Got an idea from a hurricane report about 2x4 pine poles penetrating brick and concrete walls….. did some experimentation and found that with enough velocity a #2 pencil could survive a trip trough a 1/4 inch steel plate.

Hey OP, there are projo manufacturers out there who could likely provide with a wealth of information on the subject. Hornady, Berger and Norma come to mind, but they would probably want to see your credentials....oh my.

Hey OP, just stop. You are already an embarrassment to your family don't become more of one here. Maybe your momma should have just swallowed you. The world would have been a better place.

Doc

Why on earth would you need to research green tips ability to penetrate ballistic shields and the armor of an MRAP?

Aren't you moving out of the country? You won't have access to guns or green tip in Europe.

Nobody is going to take you seriously dude, you should just fade into obscurity at this point. Tell your ASAC your plans to infiltrate and bait the hide into a conversation about defeating armor with commercially available ammo failed, like the rest of your lifes endeavors

@Krugermeier Man, I suggest you just leave the hide. IF you're not a fed, you're sure going to attract one for the questions you're asking. Please just fade away or commit forum suicide so we can see the banhammer get you, I would suggest insulting the two members mentioned below.
@lowlight @MarinePMI Can we ping this dudes IP to see where he's at?

Bro, it's the most fed thing I've ever read. Clueless and obvious bait is well, obvious.

I am doing some research on different bullet metals and their effectiveness against penetrating a variety of metal armors. I can't find any info on steel bullets on YouTube.

I am comparing .308 M855 'green tip' against steel bullets penetrating two things - ballistic shields and the steel used to construct the chassis of an MRAP. It seems that green tip is not made to penetrate, only keep the bullet from fragmenting. Can any engineers weigh in on the effectiveness of both bullets?

I was under the impression M855 was designed to 'penetrate', but it seems that it is useless against level 3 and 4 metals. Body armor and shield composition tends to be a mixture of ceramic and steel, but what about the construction of an MRAP?

There is virtually no information on steel-cast bullet ballistics online

You wanna just stop? This is your second strike; a third time and you're gone.

I'm not sure which is worse, your overt attempt to discuss going against US military vehicles, or the sheer stupidity of your "M855 .308" statement.

Just stop.

Smdh...

Can he have 4 strikes please? His next thread should be something along the lines of “need advice from chemical engineer” wanting information on how to make explosives that will penetrate ballistic glass as he can’t find any YouTube videos on it. I really want to see where he goes after that.

Actually, I'm expecting a "Anyone ever made a home built nuclear device? I'm just doing some testing..." post next.

<eyeroll>

yea someone already did that and the government lied about it leaking and he did it to obtain a merit badge lol

There's this scientist by the name of Cooper that could possibly help him out.
Fucker is super smart. Like, the smartest fucker in the room, and he'll tell you so.
Last I heard, he was living in LA.

I don't recall his first name, but he's married to a Neuro Scientist named Amy.

Good luck.

Go get an engineering degree, then Apply to Aberdeen Proving Grounds as a test tech/engineer. If you get hired, wait for your TS/SCI clearance to be approved before you can work.

Then you can learn all about this science.

There is a reason you don't know and most people who think they do, don't. Those that do, will be tight lipped about it.

Or he could go overseas and see for himself

Yeah, you just have to get a bunch of smoke detectors
