Will be building a 7 prc hunting rifle. Would you go with a long action or one of the newer medium length actions?

LONG... If you want to shoot any sort of heavy high-BC bullets, go long.
Long action, no reason to hamstring yourself. Also finding used med action spec parts is a bit challenging. Alot of long action compatible stocks and bottom metal on the px. One could argue a med on a 6.5prc hinting rifle, but for all around use I'd rather have a 6.5prc in short action and have better mag options(not really what you asked about).
I debated this ad nauseum before I went LA on this rifle w Defiance AnTi-X action. Reasons I settled on LA
- Weight/length savings negligible in final analysis
- Expensive action ($2000): I wanted versatility for any future builds on it (eg 300 PRC), not stuck w 6.5/7 PRC and similar
- parts availability/compatibilit/options as mentioned
- Resale value bc of above
