I haven't, however I was involved with the 375 Warner development about 10 years ago and we ended up cringing at each shot due to the incredibly short barrel life. It wasn't a 375-50 but more like a modified 375-415 Barrett with a different shoulder. Powder availability is the problem we ran into and I'm not aware of anything new in that realm which would be appropriate for such a case.
The 416 Barrett and 416 Warner are both similar needs for powders. The shortcoming of all of these things is still the brass for all of these various 50 and 50 based wildcats. It's extremely expensive brass and it was never designed to operate at the 60+ ksi pressures that we try to shoot them at.
I've got plenty of AA8700 and WC872 for the 50bmg. Fifty brass isn't expensive (comparatively), I was just thinking a necked down 50bmg case would be fun in another barrel for my AR50. What do you think the .416 500gr Amax would do, 3300fps?
Now you're talking new boltface/etc. All I would need is a new 416x50bmg barrel for my AR50 and get bushing 50bmg dies and I'd be good to go, right.?
Does no one shoot a 416x50bmg? I would think going from a 750amax at 2800 to a 41cal 500amax would be in the low 3000s - a good place to be IMO. I have WC872 from back when Wideners had it for $8 a pound - sounds like good 'cheap' fun to me.
